  1. From ACLU: https://www.aclu.org/press-releases/aclu-comment-on-supreme-court-ruling-allowing-indiscriminate-ice-stops-in-los-angeles The 6-3 decision, which provided no reasoning, reverses a ruling from two lower courts in Perdomo v. Noem that bars immigration agents from stopping individuals without reasonable suspicion and from relying solely on four factors — alone or in combination — including apparent race or ethnicity; speaking Spanish or English with an accent; presence in a particular location like a bus stop, car wash, or agricultural site; or the type of work a person does. The following is reaction from Cecillia Wang, national legal director of the American Civil Liberties Union: “Today's Supreme Court order puts people at grave risk, allowing federal agents in Southern California to target individuals because of their race, how they speak, the jobs they work, or just being at a bus stop or the car wash when ICE agents decide to raid a place. For anyone perceived as Latino by an ICE agent, this means living in a fearful ‘papers please’ regime, with risks of violent ICE arrests and detention.
  2. They are racially profiling. The SCOTUS ruling explicitly permits ICE to use "looking Latino" & "working a low-wage job" as reasons for detention (if that isn't profiling, I don't know what is).
  3. Reminder: This is a thread about ICE raids in L.A. - if you want to talk about Black crime in this country, start a thread about that or bump a prexisting one.
  4. It is in the thread or threads where it was discussed. No point in looking for it because the usual suspects just repeat the same thing at a later date (like in this thread) after it has been pointed out the numbers don't actually say what they claim they do.
  5. We seen this multple times in this forum. Their source is government stats (DOJ? FBI?) from some year where the numbers they cite about Black crime was misread or misinterpreted and doesn't really say that Blacks or Black men commit the percentage of violent crimes that is being claimed here.
  6. https://x.com/kylegriffin1/status/1961414793845227825 Breaking on MSNBC: Trump just revoked Secret Service protection for Vice President Kamala Harris. VPs typically only get six months of protection after leaving office, but President Biden signed a memorandum extending Harris' protection to 18 months.
  7. NewsNation. Yeah, that is a trusted source.

Academy alumnus David Jannetta started funding the series in 2008 to bring in writers and artists that have contributed to the understanding of war and encourage critical thinking among cadets. When Superintendent Lt. Gen. Tony Bauernfeind called Jannetta on Friday to tell him that the school had decided it was not appropriate for University of Utah professor Paisley Rekdal to speak as scheduled in September because she had made disparaging remarks about Trump, Jannetta said he was disappointed and taken aback. Jannetta said the superintendent told him that while Rekdal had a right to express her opinions, it was not appropriate for her to appear at a military academy. [...] https://x.com/RadioFreeTom/status/1964463658718859678 Canceling civilian speakers at a military academy because they have been critical of the president is not democracy, it's banana republic nonsense and shows an administration that is fearful, rather than confident.
  9. That worked against his claim that E. Jean Carroll wasn't his type and that he didn't find her attractive.
  10. Exactly. It makes no sense that any US Senator meeting with a political prisoner or deportee in another country is going to drink any alcoholic beverage at a meeting covered by the press, because it would be bad optics (which is why the fake drinks were set up, just to discredit Van Hollen).
  11. No matter how many times that claim has been debunked by fact checkers.
  12. Not his doing but obviously a reaction to other things he has been doing, like pressuring West Point to cancel Tom Hanks appearance.
  13. Has there ever been a President this nasty and rude to reporters. None that I can remember, Nixon didn't like the press but he was always civil to them even if they asked a question he didn't like or thought was inappropriate.
  14. Yes, indeed, Blacks folks who are unemployed can enter the workforce by replacing migrant workers picking crops in the field, cleaning toilets in hotels and busing tables at restaurants and all for a minimum wage - I am sure that they will be standing in line for these jobs that undocumented Latinos no longer do.
  15. Notice the best search engine he can come up with is Ask Jeves (I didn't know that still exists).
