  1. Why should I read your previous post or anything else if that is your attitude? Geebus, a half dozen small paragraphs is too much for your attention span?
  2. UK didn't mean much in the sceme of things, so they gave up nothing given the small amount of trade we do with them. And China is declaring this a victory (doesn't look like they caved) https://www.cnbc.com/2025/05/12/china-trade-trump-tariffs-beijing.html China sees the U.S. trade deal as a huge win for Beijing Chinese officials, influencers and state-run media on Monday were casting the initial trade agreement and 90-day tariff pause with the U.S. as a victory and a vindication of Beijing’s negotiating strategy. They are arguing that their defiant public posture worked and was a major reason they were able to strike a deal with U.S. officials in Switzerland with relatively few concessions. “China’s firm countermeasures and resolute stance have been highly effective,” said a social media account linked to China’s national broadcaster CCTV. In the eyes of the Chinese public, negotiators from Beijing appear to have convinced President Donald Trump’s administration to roll back most of the 145% tariff rate that Trump imposed, and slash them to 30%. In exchange, China pledged to roll back most of the countertariffs it announced against the U.S. On social media, Chinese users are touting the deal. One hashtag, #USChinaSuspending24%TariffsWithin90Days, already has 420 million views on Weibo. The line refers to a 24% figure cited near the top of the joint statement Washington and Beijing released. In total, the 90-day pause drops U.S. import duties from 145% to 30% on Chinese goods, and Chinese tariffs on U.S. goods from 125% to 10%.
  3. UK deal was insignificant with the small amount of trade we do them and China didn't cave.
  4. Nope. If they all do that you can come back and say "I told you so" but I won't hold my breath on seeing that.
  5. And they are going to eat the tariffs instead of raising prices like Walmart? I doubt that.

Biden should deal with the border issue, but he’ll win anyhow.

Why do they keep dredging up this ancient stuff that you clarified and apologized for? I have Voltaire and Strike on ignore so I miss seeing these vile posts unless someone quotes them (I suggest you do the same as they'll never stop)
  7. They. Don't. Get.This.
  8. Well, no that is not the intent, but that will be the end result as tariffs are passed on to the consumer, not eaten by the exporting country or the importing company.
  9. https://x.com/SpencerHakimian/status/1923751051502448863 Communist in Chief now telling Walmart to lower its profit margin and stop making so much money. Bernie Sanders is so proud.

    Moody's downgrade U.S. rating.

How can anyone put a positive spin on this? Seriously.
  11. Given the defintion they are throwing around, it could be 'buried' but that is not in the same ballpark as murdered or assassinated.

    This damn boredn

He levels the same vile insults against people in post after post and never adds anything of substance to any discussion. How is that not a troll?

    So little time...
  14. No, no, no. That is not the origin of the term. For decades I've heard it the hospitality industry in restaurants and bars where items on the menu or that are customarily available have been removed. Also in a club if a patron is thown out and banned from the premises they have been 86'd. Comey was saying that Trump should be removed from office, not assassinated.

    Starbucks Dress Code

I think most major companies in the service industry provide a uniform if they require it. And as someone noted, Starbucks did provide two black shirts per employee.

    Starbucks Dress Code

Generally a public establishment that requires a uniform provides the unform. Same concept.
  17. Oh, please. For 40 years I've heard 86 or 86'd used in the restaurant industry for an item being removed from the menu. Comey is calling for Trump to be removed from office, not assassinated. And the MAGA crowd had no problem with Trump posting a picture with Biden tied up in the back of a truck.
  18. I doubt this is real news, but, honesty, it wouldn't surprise me if it were true. https://www.thedailybeast.com/kristi-noem-wants-migrants-to-compete-for-citizenship-on-hunger-games-style-reality-show/ Kristi Noem reportedly wants the U.S. citizenship process to play out in front of the cameras. The Homeland Security secretary has been working with writer and producer Rob Worsoff to pitch a reality TV show—titled The American—where immigrants will compete in a string of challenges across the country “for the honor of fast-tracking their way to U.S. citizenship,” according to the Daily Mail. Citing a copy of Worsoff’s 35-page program pitch, the Daily Mail reported that the Canadian-born producer aims to “celebrate what it means to be American and have a national conversation about what it means to be American, through the eyes of the people who want it most.” Worsoff is best known for producing the A&E reality show Duck Dynasty. Homeland Security Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin told the Daily Beast that the show’s concept is under consideration, though she denied that Noem had reviewed the pitch in question. The concept is “in the very beginning stages” of the vetting process, she added, and approval has not been given—or denied. “The Department of Homeland Security receives hundreds of television show pitches a year,” she said in a statement. “Each proposal undergoes a thorough vetting process prior to denial or approval.” McLaughlin denied Noem’s involvement in the project, though unnamed sources told the Daily Mail that the Homeland Security secretary supports it and wants it to proceed. The Daily Beast has also reached out to Worsoff’s representatives for comment.
