Why Blacks Are Poorer than Whites in America || Thomas Sowell
squistion replied to edjr's topic in The Geek Club
He told us before the election what he planned to do. The Project 2025 Policy Agenda was out there for anyone who wanted to read it. But people ignored all that and the warnings from Democrats of what a debacle a second Trump term would be. If those who voted for him weren't dumb or stupid, then they were just willfully ignorant for which there is no excuse. -

Why Blacks Are Poorer than Whites in America || Thomas Sowell
squistion replied to edjr's topic in The Geek Club
"Negro" was not Politically Correct in the 80's and although it was not considered as pejorative as "colored" you still wouldn't want to refer to anyone Black in their presence as a "negro" as they would probably take offense to it. If Sowell insisted on using the term at that time, he comes across as being either obstinate or tone deaf. -

Jeebus. I thought the "Blacks are dumb" belief was a thing of the past, but I guess not. -

Most? I wouldn't include Led Zeppelin, The Stones, or CCR on that list. That said, many were overated. Here are my thoughts on a few: The Doors - Jim Morrison seemed overblown and pretentious at the time - seems even more so now. The Monkees - Don't get me wrong. They had some great songs (but all their hits were written by The Brill Building folks). And the fact is that they were the corporate manufactured "Boy Band" of their day (which may be why they haven't made The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame). The Jimi Hendrix Experience -The group's songs don't hold up that well to me (although Hendrix guitar playing is simply extraordinary if you listen to his live performances). The Beach Boys - Became a bit tiresome as the decade wore on ""Saccharine harmonies, inane lyrics and the same clichés repeated over and over again like a wave hitting the shore." - Robyn Strachan The Mothers of Invention - Frank Zappa's music did absolutely nothing for me. Never saw the appeal. The Grateful Dead - They had their moments if you like long extended jamming, but a little too laid back and low key for my tastes. Cream - As much as I liked them at the time, I haven't felt the need to revisit any of their catalog in decades. Jefferson Airplane - Somebody To Love is an all time Classic Rock tune and White Rabbit is pretty decent, but it is all downhill from there, exept for Today from their first LP where Marty Balin did the vocals. The Byrds - "Whether The Byrds are overrated is subjective, but their influence on folk rock, psychedelic rock, and country rock is undeniable, and they are considered a significant band in rock history."

It is can only be viewed as a betrayal by our government who gave its word this would not happen. The Latino community will soon discover what Trump really thinks of them (if they haven't already figured it out). -

Black Serial Killer Kills Wife During Conjugal Visit
squistion replied to HB Localboy's topic in The Geek Club
They are allowed in many countries. Fun Facts from a Quora post: The UK, Ireland, and New Zealand do not permit conjugal visits. Conjugal visits are allowed in Australia, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, Germany, india, Israel, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, and Spain. In the US, conjugal visits are not allowed in Federal prisons, but California, New York, Mississippi, Washington, and Connecticut permit them. The US peak was in 1990, when 17 States permitted conjugal visits, but more than a dozen have rescinded them. Why are they allowed? There are many reasons given for permitting conjugal visits, including that they encourage better behavior by prisoners so the a visit would not be denied. Some places cite the mental health benefits, the improved facilitation of transition back to normal life after release, the stabilization of marriages, emotional benefits, and intimate personal contact with others as a basic human right not to be denied. -
You are probably right, given the amount of "buyer's remorse" we have been seeing so far, which only has to get worse as Elon keeps running amok while the economy looks like it will fall off a cliff.

US arrests and Deports Antisemitic Jew Hating Palestinian Student In Columbia University protests against Gaza war

Well, this makes sense of his actions. https://x.com/kylegriffin1/status/1903483113612718240 (link to NYT piece) One possible explanation for Trump targeting Columbia University: Decades ago, Columbia refused to pay Trump $400 million. The university was looking to expand. It considered, and rejected, property owned by Donald Trump. He did not forget it. -
