  1. I stand corrected. There is some truth to what you say, however, looking into this further: "Karen Bass, currently the Mayor of Los Angeles, has faced scrutiny regarding accusations of being a communist or having strong ties to communism. What Karen Bass has said: She has explicitly denied being a communist or a socialist. She has stated that she has belonged to the Democratic Party her entire life. Why the accusations exist: Past association with the Venceremos Brigade: Bass participated in trips to Cuba in the 1970s with the Venceremos Brigade, an organization that supported the Cuban Revolution and was considered by some to be pro-Cuba and socialist/Marxist-affiliated. Bass stated she was 19 on her first trip and compared the house-building work she did there to that of Habitat for Humanity. She noted that the trips provided an opportunity for activists to connect."
  2. Wait, what??????????? Bass is a known Communist? I think I missed that "news" when he ran for Mayor. You wouldn't by chance have a link or some sort of proof to back that claim up?
  3. Once again for those who missed it: The people who are looting and burning are not the same people who are protesting peacefully (I don't agree they should block the freeway). As in 2020 in L.A. with the George Floyd protests, a criminal element came out after the protests had ended for the day and the protesters had gone home, that was when the burning and looting started.

  5. Oh, please. Don't deflect from what we are discussing. Who is on the left is justifying using violence in these protests. Who?
  6. People throwing molotov cocktails should be charged with any crime on the books that is appropriate.
  7. Who on the left are justifying using violence?
  8. https://x.com/atrupar/status/1932540135263887632 Trump goads the troops into booing California Gov. Gavin Newsom and LA Mayor Karen Bass and attacks them as "incompetent" Comment from the Twitters: "The military isn’t supposed to be politicized. We’re way past that. Imagine soldiers booing a governor and mayor because they were in the other political party in like 2008. Wouldn’t happen. This is a different world."

  10. Wait, what?????????? Trump is saying Newsom and Bass paid the protesters in L.A.? Where is he getting that from?
  11. I would too, but one would have to prepare to be arrested, no matter how peaceful the protests are.
  12. Patience, grasshopper. Wait until the full impact of the tariffs is reflected in the rasing of prices on just about all consumer goods. This is not a question of "if" just a question of "when".
  13. From a daily news email I get from the NY Times: Nationwide protests By Lauren Jackson The protests, once contained to small corners of Los Angeles, have spread across the country. And cities are waking up to more. Downtown Los Angeles is currently under a curfew. Police officers wrestled protesters to the ground in New York, used chemical agents in Atlanta and monitored large demonstrations in Chicago, where people vandalized vehicles and threw water bottles at them. In Los Angeles, the police flew in a helicopter and threatened over a loudspeaker to arrest anyone who broke the curfew downtown. The fight between California and the Trump administration has also escalated. In a nationally televised speech, Gov. Gavin Newsom, a Democrat who may have presidential ambitions, argued that Trump’s deployment of nearly 5,000 federal troops to Los Angeles was a dangerous authoritarian step. “Democracy is under assault right before our eyes,” Newsom said. “The moment we’ve feared has arrived.” The protests are expected to continue today: Marines will be in Los Angeles to protect immigration agents and federal buildings, expanding the government’s rare use of military forces on domestic soil. The Texas governor, Greg Abbott, has called in the National Guard ahead of protests planned in San Antonio. Trump threatened that protesters across the country would be met with “equal or greater force” than those in Los Angeles, which he called “a trash heap.” He promised to “liberate” it.

The Mexican Flag Is the Confederate Banner of the L.A. Riots

National Review article at OP is written by Rich Lowry From the opinion piece: "The response of sensible Mexican Americans should be" Don't you love how a white anti-immigrant conservative like Lowry is speaking on how "sensible Mexican Americans" should behave.
  15. It is well documented by friends, family, members of Congress and multiple sources that Pelosi does not drink alcoholic beverages. Quit repeating that lie.

    Trump birthday military parade debacle

This guy makes the worst analogies/comparisons ever, which is one of the reasons I put him on ignore. Yes, it is very common to have the military march as part of the POTUS inauguration, going back to George Washington's first inauguration. That is not the same thing as having a special military parade in a President's honor as Trump has scheduled that costs tens of millions.
  18. Yeah, where is he getting this "lot of death" that he says Newsom has caused?
