  1. Don't repeat that lie about Obama: https://www.pbs.org/newshour/politics/ap-fact-check-obama-didnt-have-a-family-separation-policy AP fact check: Obama didn’t have a family separation policy THE FACTS: Obama did not have a separation policy. The Trump administration didn’t, explicitly, either, but that was the effect of zero tolerance, which meant that anyone caught crossing the border illegally was to be criminally prosecuted, even if they had few or no previous offenses. The policy meant adults were taken to court for criminal proceedings and their children were separated. In most cases, if the charge took longer than 72 hours to process, which is the longest time that children can be held by Customs and Border Protection, children were sent into the care of the Health and Human Services Department. Zero tolerance remains in effect, but Trump signed an executive order June 20 that stopped separations. The president is correct, however, in saying that photos of children in holding cells were misrepresented online as showing the effects of Trump’s immigration policy. The photos, taken by The Associated Press, were from 2014, during the Obama administration, and showed children who came to the border without their parents and were being housed at a Customs and Border Protection center in Nogales, Arizona. The photos were identified as such but wrongly described online as illustrating imprisonment under Trump. Various activists expressed horror about the scene until it was pointed out that Trump had nothing to do with it.
  2. All we have are these allegations against him that are vague, unsupported, and nothing has been proven. He has not been charged with breaking any law. There has to be some claim that he has done something illegal, besides just exercising his right of free speech. Otherwise it is a violation of due process to deport him just because Trump and Rubio feel like it and you don't seem to get that fundamental legal concept.
  3. I fail to see DHS has the evidence from what has been alleged so far against Khalil Mahmood and his supporters agree including Congresswoman Rashida Talib: https://x.com/RepRashida/status/1899474793553875255 I'm joining 13 of my colleagues to demand that the Trump Administration immediately releases Mahmoud Khalil. Their illegal actions set a dangerous precedent. We cannot allow them to shred our constitutional rights to free speech and due process. Free Mahmoud Khalil.
  4. Maybe because they haven't started the mass deportation roundups that will separate children from their families. When that happens you can be assured you will hear from her and other Democrats again.
  5. And if challenged on it in a court of law they will still have to prove they had a valid reason to grab somebody of the street, otherwise those who are completely innocent could deported for no reason at all and would have no recourse, that is what due process is about.
  6. Sorry, I don't believe the SOS has the power to deport someone here a on student visa or who has a Green Card just on a whim without adhering to due process. You're claiming he has the power to do that but I am not going to take just your word for it.
  7. The law allows the SOS to not have to abide by Due Process under the law as required by the Constitution?
  8. Not true. Due process under the law applies to everyone under the jurisdiction of the United States and it is not restricted to American Citizens.
  9. Did they rule that the SOS did not have to abide by due process?

    EGGS!!

A little extreme on PETA's part, they probably should have used "Chicken Gulag"
  11. Which may not withstand a court challenge in a situation such as this case.

    EGGS!!

They haven't fallen yet where I'm at in L.A. I would like to see an independent consumer group verify this, not something from a federal agency Trump controls.
  13. OK, I stand corrected on the percentages. However, you seemed to use these numbers to infer from the BLM goals that they wanted less police protection, which would not be the case in calling to "End Police Brutality and Racial Violence" which would have to do with the quality of the police response, not the quantity of the police presence. And they did note that "Defunding the Police" was only called for by "Some BLM advocates" and it was for reducing and rellocating funds so that alternative approaches such as mental health support and social services could be used in some instances instead of a police response.
  14. You just can't grab somebody and deport them because you feel like it, the government has to prove their allegations if challenged by an attorney representing the deportee in a court of law. Yes, the deporation will in all probability still take place, but due process must be followed before that can be done.

    Zelensky and Ukraine Thread

If Zelensky/Ukraine are not a part of it, then it again won't be a real negotiation.
  16. As I suspected, you pulled these numbers out of...out of the air and have no link to back up the poll responses you claim are "literally" true.
  17. I am sure they will be deporting more but they will have to follow due process with those also.
  18. I would like to literally see a link to those numbers (particularly who ran the poll and the exact phrasing of the poll question).
  19. Sorry, but they still have to prove a national security threat or violations of immigration law, that is why the judge put a hold on the deportation proceedings.
  20. Jeebus. Well, that certainly clarifies where you are coming from.
  21. If he is here legally (he has a student visa and a green card) then due process under the law has to be followed before he can be deported (it just can't be because Trump doesn't like him expressing pro-Hamas views).
  22. You keep reapeating that like a parrot, but have yet to offer proof of any kind.
  23. An adjudication in a court of law with prrof that he broke some law, not these vague accusals and accusations that he is supporting Hamas or distributing pro-Hamas propaganda (neither of which are illegal).
  24. You keep saying that. How are their core goals Marxist? Core Goals: End Police Brutality and Racial Violence: BLM seeks to stop the disproportionate killings and mistreatment of Black people by law enforcement, advocating for accountability and reforms within the police system. Racial Justice and Equality: The movement aims to dismantle systemic racism in all areas of society, including the criminal justice system, education, housing, healthcare, and economic opportunities. Black Liberation: BLM seeks to empower Black communities and promote self-determination, advocating for policies and practices that uplift Black people and address historical injustices. Criminal Justice Reform: The movement calls for reforms to the criminal justice system, including reducing mass incarceration, addressing racial bias in sentencing, and investing in community-based solutions instead of punitive measures. Defunding the Police: Some BLM activists advocate for defunding the police, meaning reducing police budgets and reinvesting those funds in community services, such as mental health support, social services, and education. Uplifting Black Culture: The movement celebrates Black culture, art, and creativity, recognizing their importance in fostering community and resilience. Building Local Power: BLM emphasizes the importance of grassroots organizing and community empowerment, working to build local power structures that can address the needs of Black communities. Healing and Justice: The movement also focuses on healing from trauma and injustice, creating spaces where Black people can feel safe, supported, and heard. Addressing Intersectional Issues: BLM recognizes that Black people experience multiple forms of oppression, and the movement addresses issues of gender, sexuality, disability, and other marginalized identities.
  25. At this point who knows. That is really vague and open to interpretation.
