John Stossel - Mamdani’s Bad Ideas

"Seizing the means of production is from a 2021 speach Mamdani gave and from its context, it is unclear (per fact checkers) what exactly he meant by that and he has not called for that in his campaign for mayor. https://www.politifact.com/article/2025/jul/03/seizing-means-production-Zohran-Mamdani/ A Mamdani campaign spokesperson, Andrew Epstein, said, "There is nothing in his platform or in his record regarding seizing the means of production." On NBC’s Meet the Press, Mamdani said that he is not a communist and is fighting for working people and against income inequality.
  3. In 2018 he referred to Adam Schiff as "little Adam Schitt" on Twitter and none of the MAGA crowd here had any problem with that. https://x.com/realDonaldTrump/status/1064216956679716864 So funny to see little Adam Schitt (D-CA) talking about the fact that Acting Attorney General Matt Whitaker was not approved by the Senate, but not mentioning the fact that Bob Mueller (who is highly conflicted) was not approved by the Senate!
  4. Probably and I don't recall it ever used in this forum when it was not meant as some sort of negative.

    Official Rachel Maddow thread.

Almost sounds like a a threat, don't it? Is he hinting that he may try to have her taken off the air? https://www.newsbreak.com/news/3776965676753-enemy-of-the-people-trump-rages-at-rachel-maddow-in-middle-of-the-night-attack?noAds=1&_f=app_share&s=i2 'Enemy of the people!' Trump rages at Rachel Maddow in middle of the night attack Hours after Donald Trump took to his Truth Social account to celebrate the confirmation of embattled Fox News personality Pete Hegseth to be the next secretary of defense despite allegations of sexual assault and public drunkenness, he returned to attack MSNBC's Rachel Maddow. The popular Maddow, a frequent critic of the president dating back to his first term that ended in 2020, recently returned to full-time nightly duty on the network to the delight of her fans. [...] Based on Trump's late-night post, he's not happy that she will be back to plague him five nights a week. On Truth Social he launched an attack aimed at Maddow, her network, and CNN. "Wow! Rachel Maddow has horrible ratings. She’ll be off the air very soon. MSNBC IS CLOSE TO DEATH. CNN HAS REACHED THE BOTTOM. This is a good thing," he wrote before adding, " They are the Enemy of the people!"

    NYC Mayor Race

From the Twitters: Warren Endorses Mamdani for NYC Mayor Last updated 11 minutes ago Senator Elizabeth Warren endorsed Zohran Mamdani, the Democratic nominee for New York City mayor. She praised his progressive agenda, which focuses on affordability through policies like free universal childcare, expanded affordable housing, and initiatives to address high grocery costs. Mamdani's platform includes tax increases on corporations and the wealthy to fund these programs without burdening city finances.

Andrew Ridgeley is usually dismissed as "that other guy" in Wham but without him George Michael would not have been the George Michael we came to know. Ridgeley took Michael under his wing at the urging of his mother, who was a school teacher at Bushey Meads School that they both attended, where Michael was a new student (and reportedly was shy, overweight and had acne). It was Ridgeley's who developed/shaped Michael's stage persona and it was his idea for the duo to move from the "teen angst" themes of their first album to post disco dance pop and the rest (as they say) was history.

    Here come the tariffs

You prefer to deflect to something irrelevant to the discussion topic of this thread: tariffs.
  14. In-N-Out has always paid their employees more than the minimum or going rate in the fast food industry. From AI overview: In-N-Out did raise their hourly wage in California in response to the state's new minimum wage law for fast-food workers. The new law, which took effect on April 1, 2024, raised the minimum wage for fast-food employees to $20 per hour. In-N-Out's starting wage in California is now between $22 and $23 per hour, depending on location, which is above the new minimum. To offset the increased labor costs, In-N-Out also raised its prices on menu items

One doesn't have to pretend it correlates. https://www.distilledspirits.org/news/spirits-canada-analysis-removal-of-u-s-spirits-from-canadian-stores-in-retaliation-to-u-s-trade-dispute-resulted-in-sharp-sales-decline-of-u-s-products-and-total-spirits-sales/ Spirits Canada Analysis: Removal of U.S. Spirits from Canadian Stores in Retaliation to U.S. Trade Dispute Resulted in Sharp Sales Decline of U.S. Products and Total Spirits Sales WASHINGTON — The Canadian Provinces’ decisions to pull U.S. spirits from their store shelves in retaliation to the trade dispute with the United States has resulted in a significant sales decline for U.S. spirits products as well as other imported and domestic spirits products, according to a new economic analysis by Spirits Canada. The analysis shows that since March 5, when Canadian provinces announced they would no longer carry U.S. spirits products on their store shelves, through the end of April, sales of U.S. spirits in Canada fell by more than 66%, and total spirits sales in Canada declined by more than 12%. “The North American spirits sector is highly interconnected, and the immediate and continued removal of all U.S. spirits products from Canadian shelves is deeply problematic for spirits producers on both sides of the border,” said Cal Bricker, President and CEO of Spirits Canada. “The current disruption demonstrates the critical importance of maintaining open, reciprocal trade relationships that benefit consumers, businesses and government revenues in both nations.”

    Here come the tariffs

Seems the most likely explanation, because the Canadian boycott has been well publicized with liquor stores pulling Kentucky bourbon off of shelves while Trump keeps telling us how great the tariffs have been for the economy.

Please. Blago tried to sell Obama's vacated Senate seat for a bribe and was convicted for that. He is not a hero of leftists in Chicago or anywhere else.
