How to hate your all time favorite player

C'mon. A worst analyst is two chairs to his right and the worst of all time was in his chair 12 months ago. Irvin and Keyshawn are by far worse than Emmitt.

    Shopping Selvin Young

Looking through the CBS Sportsline trade log, those trades that were Selvin for X players straight up are interesting. Some are down right idiotic. Some names he'd been traded for straight up in commissioner only leagues (no free league B.S.) include the following. Brandon Marshall - Made this trade offer. Dwayne Bowe - Made this trade offer too. Jeremy Shockey MoJo Drew Jones, Kevin RB DET Curry, Ronald WR OAK Colston, Marques WR NO Turner, Michael RB SD Lee, Donald TE GB Moss, Santana WR WAS Jackson, Vincent WR SD Johnson, Calvin WR DET Jennings, Greg WR GB Coles, Laveranues WR NYJ Betts, Ladell RB WAS Norwood, Jerious RB ATL McNabb, Donovan QB PHI Evans, Lee WR BUF Chambers, Chris WR SD Jones, Kevin RB DET Fitzgerald, Larry WR ARI Green, Ahman RB HOU Johnson, Rudi RB CIN Some of them are incredibly stupid moves. It is always had to evaluate a trade without both line-ups and the scoring system. I even like to know the records of both teams and if they play in the same division before I make an evaluation but please. Selvin Young for MoJo Drew in a real league? Calvin Johnson? Anyway, this league I am in is a Dynasty league so the likelyhood of me getting Marshall or Bowe are remote.

    John Clayton

Clayton is a hack. He is a complete tool of the player's agents. He has a little black book of all their numbers and what ever it is that they want said in the media, he is the first to oblige. He is wrong more often then he is right on his player predictions when it comes to movement, contracts and trades, etc. The guy is a boner with a necktie.

Selvin Young Threads: Gado Deja Vu?

Didn't Mike Anderson burst on to the scene out of nowhere and run for something along the lines of 1100 yards and 12 TDs? Who was that for... Denver right? Not that all the hubub about Young is justified but it's not like lightning hasn't struck in this situation before.

    Seriously.

Or post your own so we can ridicule you on Monday.

    Pierre Thomas or Aaron Stecker

Listening to Sean Payton on the NFL network (video available on line), I am not getting the impression that either back up will get a ton of work. They are going to lean on Reggie more and work both RBs in, i.e. they will be splitting 1/4 of the running touches. Ungood if you are looking to find a sleeper. Unless Thomas blows up on a couple of big runs, I doubt he will be much of the game plan.

Deuce is done for the year.

So the Deuce is done. The guy that has him in my IDP league is 3-0 and 80 points below the top scorer in the league. I am 2-1 and about 100 shy of the top scorer. I give ·Henderson, Devery WR NO ·Lewis, Jamal RB CLE 51 points YTD combined. He gives ·Holmes, Santonio WR PIT ·Sanders, Bob DB IND 96 points YTD combined. LT and LJ would probably disagree too.

Rank these five WRs in regards to their matchup today..

    4. Calvin Johnson vs. Phily - The kid is as advertised and should be a perma starter. 1. Bernard Berrian vs.Dal - The addition of Greg Olsen is going to open up the deep routes for Chicago. If Wrecks has a strong point, it is the deep ball. 2. Antwaan Randle El vs. NYG - Quietly took over the #2 spot and is producing. 3. Amani Toomer vs. WAS - Road game and a nicked up QB. 5. Shaun McDonald vs. Phily - #3 is still a #3.

    NFL Jerseys

Yeah, that will really kill the resale value when you go to trade it in.

    Vernand Morency

You are going to have to understand various portions of the string theory to see how quickly Morency will become the featured back in Green Bay when he comes back. Wynn I would hold onto in a keeper league but start looking for a trading partner for Jackson.

Marion Barber vs. CHI this week

Athletically, he matches up with Brown. But Brown was the one of the best players on that defense. Manning might become good, why not on that defense. But he has a long way to go to get to Brown's category.

Marion Barber vs. CHI this week

The RIF bus didn't stop in your neighborhood, did it? Danieal Manning has taken over as Chicago's starting free safety following the season ending loss of Mike Brown.

Marion Barber vs. CHI this week

I'd have to agree with the exception of TO and maybe Witten but too a much less extent. The Bears lost FS Mike Brown for the season. Brown is a guy those outside Chicago would only know if you played in deep IDP leagues. He has been hurt every year. But when he plays, he is a difference maker. Well he is not playing. It changes the way the Bears play the middle of the field, the most easily exploited area in the cover two. Urlacher will tend to stay in coverage rather than pressure the QB and play the run. He cheats to the deep middle off the snap. It opens up the run too but this year vs. last the Bears are tougher on the line with a healthy Tommie Harris and former Eagle Darwin Walker at tackle (Ian Scott and Tank Johnson finished 2006). These two guys plus Briggs and Hillenmeyer will contain the run all night. For the Cowboys to be successful, they will need to exploit Danieal Manning at FS and Urlacher in isolation. It feels weird just writing that the Cowboys should go at Urlacher but with the way he will have to compensate for the loss of Brown, I would be sending Witten and TO across the middle of the field all day. The Bear corners are adequate who look better because of the strong rush. But my game plan would be to use Witten early to set up TO late in the game. Right now, that is the only crack in the best defense in the conference. If Manning steps up and plays, the Cowboys are in trouble. Just my .02¢.

    Greg Olsen

Because a TEs routes are a lot quicker to develop than a deep threat WRs. From what I have seen of the Bears preseason, the Bears used Olsen as more than just a TE, however. There were a lot of Twin TE sets and he came out of the slot and H-back as well. It wouldn't surprise me to see Grossman throw to him 8-10 times. How many he catches will depend on how good those passes are but 5 for 60 and a TD doesn't seem like a stretch. I am thinking the Bears are going to be using Olsen to set up a few shots down field.

the most overrated player in fantasy football

He is in his third year. One 1000 yard season out of 2 and the other one was 3 short of 1000. 9TDs in two years. Not spectacular but far from worthless. His team sucks. He has had two coaches and two QBs and two offensive schemes in two seasons. 22 rushing attempts in two games this season? How many guys would succeed with that? He may have been picked too high but that is because of the premium on RBs as much as anything else.

    Tony Romo versus CHI DEF

There is a part of me that is rooting for Rex to throw three picks by halftime. I am just sick of looking at the guy. He is a mental midget. Sooner or later Lovie has to throw in the towel on the Rex Grossman experience and put in a guy who can take a snap from a probowl center. But I will tell you this much, if the Bears go 1-2 and are looking up at the rest of the NFC North, Rex won't make it to his car that night much less a huddle the following Sunday.

    John Broussard

Is John Broussard® the next Marquise Colston? He had a solid camp and made a spectacular catch for a TD in the opener. Taking him to Colston levels might be a stretch for a couple of reasons. He doesn't have Drew Brees throwing him the ball. He doesn't have Reggie Bush taking attention away. He doesn't have Joe Horn taking attention away. He doesn't have a coach with enough balls to take a shot on a rookie. What he does have is a pretty sorry ass group of WRs in front of him and a team that might have to air it out in some games. He is currently sitting in the 4th slot but I could see him moving up the depth chart as the season rolls on. I just tucked him away on the bottom of deep roster in a keeper league. Just would like to hear some thoughts on the guy. TIA

    John Broussard

LOL, Actually, I was at the combine. Well, I was in Indy that week on business. I sat next too the Panther's staff in a restaurant one night. Interesting conversation but a story for another time. I have no connection to the NFL other than being a fan. I play in dynasty leagues almost exclusively. They range from 25 to 40 man rosters. None have less then 12 owners. So as you might imagine, the wire is bare. I spend a fair amount of time researching the draft... or should I say the drafted. At the combine, Broussard put up some pretty good numbers. 40-time = 4.38 Some notables he bested in the 40. Dwayne Bowe - 4.40 Robert Meachum - 4.41 Craig Davis - 4.41 Jacoby Jones - 4.50 Dwayne Jarrett - 4.62 He had a 40" vertical. The only notable that beat his vertical was Calvin Johnson. His shuttle time was 4.09. None of the above posted a better shuttle time. The closest to him was Meachem at 4.19. The shuttle is the best indicator of the possible success for a WR in my book. His biggest negatives might be if he can bust up the jam and if he can get a crack at the ball regularly. He is buried pretty deep on the depth chart. Reggie Williams, the Jags first round pick, is now 5th on the depth chart. Williams was a healthy scratch last week but will be given some 1st round pick favoritism over Broussard? The Jags are locked into Williams for 6 years and are paying him about three times them money that Broussard is getting. And then you look at that catch last Sunday. He beat Cortland Finnegan who is the guy the Titans hope will replace Pacman Jones. He had him by a step is all but he laid out to get that ball. His preseason games were limited but he had solid numbers. I want to say he is averaging 16 ypc. the other catch he had on Sunday was an intermediate route he caught for 8 yards. Again, I am thinking with a dynasty players mind but I don't see a lot of negatives here. Probably the biggest has less to do with him and more to do with the Jags. Garrard? Decent D will keep the scores low so no need to go 4-wide and deep. He may not amount to much this year. But I hope he does.

    John Broussard

176 actually. Marvin Harrison and Steve Smith are only 185lbs. I am not sure I get the point. He is fast, a good route runner and has excellent hands. If he were a RB, I think his weight would matter. Garrett Wolfe and MoJo Drew are compared often as small backs but Wolfe is 40lbs. lighter than Drew. That matters. 9lbs. on a WR is not that big a deal, IMO.

    Chiefs 17, Bears 14

Ahh, the survivor pool blood bath game. 200 people in the pool and 160 get knocked when one team get upset. But that most often happens on the road and never happens to a conference champion on his home opener after a loss. "Thats why they play the game" but I will eat my hat if it does.

    how to pull an upset

The most misunderstood concept in sports. Oddsmakers do not set lines based on which team they think will win, why or by how much. They could care less. They make a spread so that the money falls as equally on both sides of the wager as possible. Some teams are more heavily wagered than others so the number is weighted to the other teams favor when a strongly wagered team is playing a team that does not see a lot of action. It is not the job of the odds maker to predict the out come. It is his job to set and move the line so the money, and risk of loss by the casinos, is spread evenly.

I would have fired him the day they aired that HBO 'Hard Knocks' show and in the opening scene he was sitting at his deck coloring a 'Welcome to camp sign'. He walked out to the bus as the players arrived and held it up. They all pretty much walked past him and snickered. What a tool. Chiefs fans had to be cringing.
