  1. I guess Brown getting zero snaps in the preseason game was a sign that this would happen. But who will get carries when Foster gets hurt, retires, goes on a yoga retreat in India, etc? Hard time believing its Jonathan Grimes or Alfred Blue. Would love to hear from homers who may know more than my cursory view of the depth chart, but it seems like the Texans are going to be snatching up BJGE or another veteran who gets their walking papers later in the preseason. DISCLAIMER: I will not draft Foster in any league, under any circumstances, this year.

If you only own 1 Saints RB this year...

I don't pay much attention to the depth chart when it comes to NO backs, but I think things are looking up for Ingram. Right now he is a better value than Robinson. I think the "Sproles" production is going to be replaced by Cooks and not Pierre Thomas. The conventional wisdom is that Thomas is the natural replacement for that role (ignore the Cadet talk from a few months ago, guy is a non-factor). But with different players come modifications to any offense, and that includes the Sean Payton machine. What I see emerging is more of a two headed rushing attack with Ingram and Robinson getting 12-15 a game. The Sproles production in the passing game is going to be replaced primarily by Cooks in the slot, in motion, screen, and out of the backfield. Thomas will get some catches, but not as many as last year as a result. Robinson is also better in the passing game than people think, and camp reports have him working in that role a lot more than people expect, and at Pierre's expense. Its tough to read, but in 12+ team leagues, I'd grab Ingram late. Robinson is too high at his current ADP, as is Thomas.

Ebron - Ertz - Ladarius Green . What say you?

This may be he year Lance Kendricks really breaks out
  5. Rex Ryan is an obese blowhard and can't be trusted.
  6. Ah, Kory Sheets, a sleeper of the "deep, so deep out her @ss to sleep" variety. Yeah, he blew up for the Saskatchewan Roughriders, but I believe he has had stints in the NFL before and never amounted to much. Expect more of the same if he's even able to keep a roster spot. Tough to handicap the Raiders backfield, or even their whole offense given all the new faces (Shaub, Jones, MJD) and emerging guys like Streater and Andre Holmes. With what we know now, safest bet is MJD. That being said, you're better flushing your auction money down the toilet than spending it on any Raider not names Andre Holmes (and he can be had for a buck).

    An opportunity has come up

This is the way to go. If one of the big three fall, you grab em. Honestly Id have trouble passing in Brees in the 3rd this year (I see him as the leading QB scorer this year) though I've been drilling "wait on QB" into my head in every mock I've done so far. Brees in the 4th in a no-brainer. Tremendous value. Harder to "wait on QB" when you see a high-upside guy you like still lounging around after the 4th round. I like Stafford, and if he falls to the 5th I may have to strike. Same thing with RG III in the 6th. I think a lot of the "wait on QB" types really only have 2 or 3 guys in mind (Cutler and Romo seem to be popular QBs people are targeting late), and when the big day comes and the draft day jitters set in, people are going to look at the dude next to him and say "is he planning the same thing? What if I miss out on Jay Cutler? Am I really ok with Andy Dalton and Jake Locker? Sh1t, I better grab someone now to be safe..." Hence, I can see a handful of QBs going 2-3 rounds higher than their ADP. QB runs will be rampant in drafts from here to Tegucigalpa. Mass hysteria.

Calling it now, Montee Ball a bust.

Yeah i don't understand this at all. After shady, charles, AP, Forte and Lacy, I think Ball and Murray are in a tier of their own and I would draft them without hesitation over Lynch and Foster who I see as busty. Id still prefer taking Megatron or Demariyus at pick 6 or 7, but Ball going from pick 7 on makes sense. He should definitely not make it out of the first round. Second round RBs of the Zac Stacy ilk are just scaaaawwwweee.

Taking a look at last years RB tier list

I still have PTSD from going Doug Martin, David Wilson and Lamar Miller with 3 of my first 4 picks in a 14 teamer last year...I'm sorry, I just am not ready to talk about this. Just forget it ok? Leave me alone! No, you shut up! Everything is fine, ok? Delete this thread!

    The Doug Martin enigma

It is objectively good value, but I won't be taking him there anyway. No names came in and were productive in the same offense that Martin wasn't before he got hurt. He could reemerge, but he isn't going to be handed the keys to the car. More likely he puts up borderline RB2 numbers; a lot of 10-12 carry days without much to show for it. If he gets work on third downs and starts moving around the formation during camp to take advantage of his receiving ability, I may take notice and have some slight tingling. But not yet, not yet. And of course there is one Chuck Sims clouding things further. Really like him as an impact rookie and a late round grab.
  14. Love this thread because its not a "sleepers" thread, just mid-round guys with upside. Great idea. I'll play: QB: Cutler is the obvious one, but I see Matty Ice bouncing back bigtime. Falcons have no TE, but I see them running a lot of 3 WR sets with Julio, Roddy and Douglas, and throwing a ton to their backs, all of who can catch. RB: Terrance West. Even if Tate is healthy, these guys are going to end up in a 50-50 timeshare at worst. At best, Tate is the lead dog by the halfway point and finishes strong. WR: So many here, but Roddy White, Cruz and Andre Johnson could easily outperform their current ADP substantially. Ruben Randle is also a guy to keep an eye on. TE: Clay is the one that really stands out. Why does everyone hate on this guy?

    T-Rich climbing the draft charts

I wouldn't either, but I think by the time the draft rolls around - and assuming he's getting the majority of carries and not splitting with Bradshaw - his ADP is going to be too high to be an RB3. People who SWEAR they wont take Trich but who miss on RBs early are going to scramble, see him sitting there in round 4 and grab him. They'll hate themselves after, but they'll do it. Hopefully I'm not one of those people.
  16. This is the key for me. The guy is a size/speed freak and simply a playmaker. Is the 4th too high for him? Probably. Will I reach and grab him there, particularly in smaller leagues that start two WRs and given the depth and upside of so many WRs this year? Probably. Now I would not feel great about going with his my WR1, but if you like him and he falls to you at 4 after you've wrapped up your RB1 and 2 in rounds 1-3, why not take a shot? Yeah, its obviously objectively dumb to take Cord over Fitz, Cruz, or Andre Johnson, but it is more "fun" to have a guy like Cord. And the 4th round is when you can start to look for upside over stability/safety, and WR is generally an easier deficiency to remedy on the waiver wire or by stashing some other late-round guys with upside. I'm like the OP, I'm a sucker for excitement and I tend to fall into Al Davis mode when picking my teams, taking big-play guys and great athletes like Cord over safer, volume-type PPR guys. Sometimes it doesn't work and sometimes you get Julio Jones or Dez Bryant. Its really a personal preference, but every year there are just some dudes I MUST have on my teams and I'll reach for them. Last year, one of those dudes was Gordon. The other was David Wilson. How Cord ends up, we'll have to see.

    Another holdout: Marshawn Lynch?

    Amen to that.
  18. BigMilk

    Another holdout: Marshawn Lynch?

Yep no reason to cave with Christine waiting in the wings and the high likelihood of Lynch being phased out and the Hawks going RBBC this year. The question is how far do you bump Michael? If Lynch really holds out, this has to rocket him to round 6-7 at least, and I'd probably take him earlier. That guy with 12-15 touches a game is in RB2 territory with monster upside.
  19. Yeah some bargain. Like a "buy one, get one free" deal with rhino feces. Can't beat that value! But wait! If you draft right now, we'll throw in an additional bag of dung (or Correll Buckhalter) absolutely free! Knowshon at his ADP is insane when you consider more talented RBs in better situations with more upside are available such as: Khiry, Terrence West, Pierce, and (gasp!) Lamar Miller.

    Auction draft strategies

I am always this guy. I think it's a good strategy. Spend a lot on one or two studs and then lie in wait and pick off the sleepers or lower ranked guys you like. Especially this year: with QB and TE and WR, you can do this all day, get great guys on the cheap, and have plenty to drop on high end RBs.
