  1. So, I have been on these forums almost since their inception. Well before an e-mail was required and we had to all register. It just struck me that all that time I have never used the "A little help" board as a resource. Always hanging out in the main forums or the Geek Forums. Anyway, I pose the question as I have been going back and forth all week with this.

Demaryius Thomas @ home VS Houston, a stout defense. Or Greg Jennings @ Seattle on Monday night?

    Line up looks like this;

    NE Team QB's

    Janikowski

    Jets DST

    Spiller

    Reggie Bush

    Trent Richardson

    Dwayne Bowe

    Either Jennings or Thomas.

    On the bench....

    Buff TQB

    Bironias

    Detroit DST

CJNOWAY - Had him plugged in the first two weeks and missed out on Spiller in week one and Richardson last week.

    D. Brown - Great match up this week but can't sit Bush, Spiller or Richardson to start him.

    J. Stewart

Lance Moore- Another good match up. Think he will have a good game...not good enough to start over other options though.

Nate Washington - See above comment

    K. Oggletree - See above yet again

Unless I am missing something Bowe is a muct start this week and I am stuck with the decision of either Jennings or Thomas for that second WR spot.

    My thoughts....

Jennings missed last week and has been hobbled since the onset of the season. 3 weeks in and he has yet too get anything going due to a number of factors. I think he is "due". He has a Monday night game. As lame as it sounds that factors into my personal decisions when determining lineups.....Who doesn't like to have that last ace in the hole going into Monday night? It makes MNF a thrill to watch! Plus, being a Monday night game, there is a lot of hype...players tend to try and amp up their game.

Thomas...Although Peyton may have been "exposed" last week (I don't buy it personaly) Thomas still performed. He is a fast and very athletic kid. Kind of a smaller version of Megatron.....albeit less skill. He has emerged into what I deem to be Peyton's #2 if not #1 receiver and has the most looks of any other WR on the team. What I do like is they are playing Houston and will more likely than not be playing from

m behind. What I don't like is they are playing that stout Houston D.

So, my first post in this sub-forum. Could use some feedback by those who have intelligent opinions regarding this conundrum I am in. I do appreciate it folks.

  2. Sitting his lame @ss for T. Richardson after sitting Richardson for CJPlayinggay the first two weeks. I was really hoping he would come around so I could deal him for some serious talent at WR. I have an amazing trio of Spiller, Bush and Richardson but FJax will be back eventually and although I doubt Spiller will lose his starting gig at this point, Freddy returning will certainly cut into carries. Still holding out hope that CJ remembers how to play at some point.

  3. I REALLY wanted to get this thread back to the top of the page again. Sure Detroit might not have the best run D, Sure it's only one game and one game does not make a stud. But it sure was nice to have Turner this week and have him in my lineup. If only I had thought to sit S Jax and start Norwood along with Turner. But I mean really, who could have called that one? I will feel a lot better after next week if Turner has even a decent game, still......sure makes the above poster who talked all the shite about the ATL run game and WR's look like a schmuck.

  4. Yeah, but the joke is one you. The Falcons suck and they have a rookie QB who has bad WRs. Turner is unproven and you not only picked him but his backup. I guess the mighty Atlanta rushing offense is just that good. You have two guys from a crap team.............Enjoy!

A crap team....hmmm. A good runner, showing a lot of promise from a crap team. Hmmmm...Turner may be unproven as an every down back but by no means are his skills unproven. As far as being a good back from a crap team...um, the name Barry Sanders ring any bells? I am not saying Turner is the next Sanders, however, good backs on crap teams can still put up very good FF numbers.

  5. Born in Boston....Moved to Az at age 9....raised in Charlotte, NC from age 12 up and currently residing in the wonderful city of San Antonio, Tx......a seriously underrated city with awesome people, tons of things to do etc etc (Give me 1 San Antonio over 10 Dallas' any day BTW). I spent the first eight years of my life in Boston. Almost all of my relatives live there still so I still have to go back yearly and visit and let me tell you this...the city itself, although beautiful, is the armpit of America. The vast majority of the cities inhabitants are rude, obnoxious pricks, the cost of living is outrageous and being a father of 4 it is beyond me why anyone would even consider raising a family there. With all that being said I always have and always will bleed red and blue. I have loved the Sox since I can remember. The heartbreak and losses of that damn team plague my memories and are as vivid today as they were when they happened. As sick as it sounds I consider the day we won the series in 04 to be up there with the birth of my children and the other amazing memories of my lifetime.

For what it is worth I HATE the Celtics, can't stomach the Pats (lifetime Chiefs and a Panthers fan since they joined the league) and hate Hockey so as for the Bruins....whatever. Some might consider me a glutton for punishment being a lifetime Sox/Chiefs fan. If the Chiefs ever win a Super Bowl in my lifetime at least I can die happy. Anyway...as for the outlook regarding Boston fans, I can't speak intelligently about Celtic/Pats/Bruins fans.....but I have always said and still believe that one of the only types of people that can possibly understand what it is like to be a true Red Sox fan is Chicago Cubbies fan 8). It honestly is hard to explain the phenomenon of being a Sox fan to just about anyone...oddly enough I have found that those that come closest to "getting it" other than a Cubs fan is a die hard Yankee fan. Believe it or not some of my closest friends have been Yankee fans.......even to this day I can be walking down the street wearing my Boston jersey and a big fat blue and red "B" on my baseball cap, pass a guy wearing Yankee pinstripes, nod my head at him, shoot him a sideways smirk and we kinda both just "get it". IT has always been that way. For 30 years of my life the smirk was his, his guys earned it...for the last 4 I have gotten to wear it. It's not me trying to intentionally be an arshole, it's not me being an obnoxious Boston fan......he knows it and I know it......it's my reward.....it's what I have gotten in return for the many, MANY years of "almost" and "ground balls through the legs of certain first baseman's".......It's what it means to be a frigging fan.....to support a team for a very long time, through the years of mediocre seasons and blown pennant races. When Boston sucked balls I was a fan....and I took the "shite" that everyone felt the need to throw my way. Now that we have a team that has been on top why should I not get the honor of being proud and boastful? I paid my dues, I never "jumped ship". Maybe, just maybe some day I may be able to walk down the street wearing KC red and yellow and pass some schmuck wearing a Denver or Oakland Jersey and perhaps I will get to wear that smirk again for my Chiefs......until that day comes I will wear my #58 Jersey of Derrick Thomas proudly (RIP) .....I will listen to the arsehats tell snickers candy bar jokes about my "chefs", LOL, and I will continue to pay my dues. But when the day does come, when I can finally call my Chiefs or Panthers Super Bowl champs please don't say I am obnoxious or annoying because I finally get the honor of boasting about my team......after all.....I am just being a true fan.....and thats what we, as men do........we suck it up and listen to our friends talk crap about our suck arse teams while they are losing...all the while biding our time...then, when we finally get our moments in the sun....we take our friends face....and shove it in the big steamy pile of shite called humble pie that we ourselves have had to walk in for years prior.

It's late...my sentence structuring sucked, my punctuation was horrid and my 8 year old son could have spelled better than have in this post.......so if you feel the need to flame me please do so with regards to what I said not how I said/spelled/typed/mistyped it/ :pointstosky:

Oh yeah, also.....yup.....Boston bought a good team...the Yankees have been doing it for years....and as the poster stated above...any team that has the market to support it can do the same......it sucks that this is what baseball has come to.....but it is what it is.......personally I think the bigger deal is ensuring guys who break home run records are not juiced up or indicted.....perhaps baseball should take care of that fish first then worry about teams paying guys named Rodriguez 275 million over 10 years and how to cap things like that...but hey...thats just me.

  6. Ok bud, first tid bit of advice is always ensure you post "who should I start" threads in the "little help" forum or you will get what happened here in this post......a hijacked thread along with juvinile flames and unnecessary posts intended to make you look like a schmuck. Since nobody has offered an assistance and you are new to FF I will offer my brief input. Your starting lineup this week in my world.........

    Hasselback

    Chad Johnson

    Randy Moss

    Stephen Jackson

    Kellen Winslow

    Jamal Lewis

You did not post your kickers or Def so I can not offer any input there. Eli has a tough match up this week against Wash, that along with Smith being out and possibly no Plexiglass makes Hasselback the clear starter in my opinion. Johnson, Moss and SJax are all studs and should be started weekly. JLew had a huge week last week and will not have another game like it the rest of the year, however he is playing a poor run D in Oakland and should post decent numbers .....if I had to guess I would say 85 to 100 combined with one TD. You could start Edge in place of JLew and in all actuality this is something I am doing this week but my reasons are not really related to functionality or strategy and to be totally honest I do not recommend it for you.

Hope this helped a little. There are MANY websites dedicated to Fantasy Football and information on who to start/sit weekly is plentiful. Just do a google search for "start em/sit em" and you should find what you need. You should start right here at FF Today for your research to be honest as Mike and company do and always have done an amazing job at posting useful information in a timely manner. Good luck and remember, if you need help make sure you use the correct forum. It may take some time to get a response but eventually you will get some bites......like GNR said bud......."just a little patience"

  7. My stupid move of the week. My RB's ...Fast Willie, J Lew, Edge, Caddy, Freddie T and Dunn. I am starting 3 RB's.........The numbers and FF laws say start Willie, Caddy against a porous STL D and J Lew against a weak Oak run D .....However, in my keeper league I have owned Edge since his fist year playing pro ball. Starting Edge against a defense like Baltimore would bever be something I would recommend especially since Balt held Rudi to 76 combined yards and Jones to 87 combined with 0 TD's in the first 2 weeks of the season. But I have to go with my gut this week and my gut says I get to watch one of my players if I start Edge  (televised) and I honestly think he will break 100 combined and may even find pay dirt. The only thing that concerns me is in starting Edge I am benching JLew and I think he could have a very solid game. Obviously like almost every other Lewis owner I had him on the bench last week and I swear to god if the douche pops off 2 TD's and over 100 I am going to lose it.........Just typing this has almost changed my mind but I have to stick to my guns on this one. After tomorrows games I will come back here and post on this thread so you can all call me a tool for bucking the system LMAO. But god damn it I want to watch at least one of my damn players tomorrow! <_<

  8. When did you become a Panthers fan? :)

    :shocking:

Well Korny, when They first came to Charlotte I was living there still.....and although the Chiefs have been my boys since childhood there was a part of me that wanted to like the Panthers. I just could not bring myself to turning my back on the Nigerian Nightmare. Finally, after many years I came out of the closet 2 years ago and expressed my loyalty to all things Carolina. You know I bleed baby blue (UNC) ....I guess I just never told you I liked the Panthers as well. As the years have gone by I have grown into a full fledged Panthers fan. Don't get me wrong bro, I will never turn my back on my Chiefs, no matter how badly they suck....but I am a big enough man for two fav teams 8). By the way bro....CALL ME!!!!!!!

  9. The play calling was not the problem. Fitz and Boldin were covered and covered WELL. Matt was not throwing the ball well at all, couple that with a good outing from SF's CB's molesting 2 of the top WR's in the league right now and you get edge between the tackles all night long. On a positive note Az's run blocking looked vastly improved as did edge and his cutting ability. He is nowhere near what he was a few years ago but in the ONE game thus far he certainly looked better than last year. Az's pass blocking sucked huge balls, Matt had an "off" night and made some poor decisions, SF's CB's played very well....all this lead to the AZ loss. I think they will be an improved team for certain this year. I agree with the above poster who stated they should not have run on third and 10 that late in the fourth. I understand the passing game had not been there all night but even a little screen to Edge would have been better than what they did. And how the hell does the Az D hold Alex down all night except on the final drive when it really counts?? Oh yeah, It's Arizona. Being a homer I try so hard to like them every year and every year they give me reason to stay with my Chiefs and Panthers......oh yeah, they suck too, damn 8(

  10. I too went back to the Tivo for "further review". My apologies, you are correct...he did indeed look at Reggie the entire time. Thats ore of a mute point for me though. The point I was/am trying to drive home is that Marvin is FAR from done and both Reggie and Marvin look to have a very solid year this year. I also want to re emphasize that you honestly cannot judge a QB's main target by watching one game. There is no doubt that Peyton and #88 have a history together. Reggie is working his way there with Peyton as well. I just think that Peyton is as good as they come at taking advantage of #1. picking apart man to man D and #2. kicking a CB when he is down. I am a Wayne owner, the more Peyton looks at Wayne the more doller signs I see, however those scoffing at Marvins ability need to drop the pipe and back away. Marvin will have big games this year and Reggie will have big games. For my sake ets just hope that Reggie has the big games when I am down by 12 and need the points. And BTW, thanks for double checking that and pointing it out. The LAST thing we need is false or misleading info on our forums. If I post something inaccurate and someone catches it, by all means correct me.......this should be the feeling of all our posters.

  11. This topic has been beat to death here recently bud. Do a quick search and you will get a lot of opinions on the subject. Bottom line is it can and has worked in the past. Worked great for me last year....I started MJD and Fragile Freddy the last 5 games of my season and it worked out very nicely. HOWEVER, it can really come back to kick you in the nuts if things do not work out well and the running game goes snafu or a team is behind big and is throwing a lot. IMO I would NOT start both Williams and Foster this week. Although STL had a horrid run D last year and to be honest they have not improved on it very much at all thus year if I am going to risk running both RB's in a RBBC situation I am going to watch, at a minimum a couple games to see how said RB's are running first. As I mentioned above I waited until the tenth or so game last year before I felt confident enough to start both Freddy and MJD. I made certain they were both getting ample carries and that both of them were playing well at the time. And to be brutally honest bud, Foster and Williams are not the tandem I would want to start together. Neither of them have played well in the last year or two. Eventually Williams will get the starting job. But I waited on that day all year last year and it never came. It will, and it just may happen early on in the season this year. For now I would find other options to start in place of one of them. As I mentioned earlier in this post STL run D is porous and can be run on with good results. Sit Williams and start Foster. He is still the starter and as far as I know he is not getting the goal line carries vultured, I would venture to guess he should get at least 80-100 yards combined and he should be able to sneak a TD in there somewhere.

  12. Did you two also forget about the pass to the td cone that Harrison didn't turn around for? Let's see, 1st td of the nfl year, missed pass at the cone/goal line, 1 step away from another td. I wouldn't worry about Harrison's production. He possibly could have had 3td's. Just saying

Absolutely, Marvin will get his, he always does. One game does not a season make. I have Wayne, he had a great night, I will take it for what it's worth, thank the FF gods and be prepared for Marvin to get the 2 td's next week while Reggie gets 55 yards and 0 td's. This is a possibility people. The guy that mentioned Peytons ability to pick apart single coverage is right on the money. The saftey bit when Peyton looked down Marvin's side on both of the TD's to Wayne. In Indy the TD's can go anywhere to anyone. As long as Indy continues to put up big numbers I will be happy......you know that both #87 and #88 will be scoring TD's. Take the game for what it was and be thankful you were not the idiot who took Brees in the third. I never understood the concept of taking a QB that early in a draft yet every year we have at least one or two schmucks who end up doing it. I got Eli n the 12'th and big Ben in the 14'th. I could have done much worse at the QB position. While all the guys in my league freak out when there is a run on QB's and they start scooping up the best available QB I quietly snatch up the best value at RB and WR possible. Year in and year out the difference between the top 1 or 2 QB's and the 15'th or 16'th QB is MUCH, MUCH lower than the difference between the top 3 or 4 RB's or WR's and the 20 or 21'st. Hell, the point difference between the top 1 or 2 QB's and the 15'th QB every year is so minimal to me it's insane not to wait on a QB until at least the 10'th. But hey, thats just me.

  13. Look, I have Reggie and am very satisfied with his results tonight even though he looked like stir fried sh*t in the first half he did indeed step it up in the second. But come on bud, don't be rubbing your bad mojo on my #1 receiver by saying he is going to set frigging records this year just because he started the year with a 100 plus yard 2 TD game. Be thankful he ripped it up and prepare for the possibility of him getting 57 yards and no TD's next week while Marvin catches 2 or 3 TD's. They are both going to get theirs this year.

  14. Your always going to have your "the sky is falling, the sky is falling" guys that freak out when a player/team has a bad game. Reggie Bush was by NO means the only player on the field that looked horrid tonight. That entire team sucked it up big time. The CB's were god awful. I know, #87 and #88 are two of the premier backs and have been for some time (I have Wayne this year, yay me!) and I am positive it must be a BIT*H trying to cover them but your a professional CB in the National Football League.....if you get burned once on the post make sure your arse is not out of position to get burned again on the post.....and again, and again lol. Relax fellas. Indy had a VERY solid game..the D played lights out, Reggie, Marvin and Peyton looked solid as always and the Saints just had a very bad day. They will more than likely bounce back next week and Bush will more than likely put up solid numbers. The one thing that really impressed me was Addai's running.....he looked very good tonight. I was concerned about his durability this year, granted it's only the first game of the season but if he runs like he did tonight for the rest of the year he will have finally sold me on his ability.

    Jerry Rice's Stats.

His drop off came in '96 at age 34. ( He turned 34 in Oct of that season )

I have Harrison on my team so I am in the camp that says that Harrison is still the man in Indy. However, Harrison is 1 year past Rice when he started to slow down. So, lets just hope that Harrison can out produce the greatest WR to ever play the game at his age.

Nah, lets not hope that at all. Go Wayne!
