420 In Progress vs Hammerheads

The teams with the 2 and 3 picks in the 05 draft both look to be tremendously improved this season. This will be an important game for both to set the tone for the season. It's also going to be a very important game for the Hammerheads, to avoid losing his 3rd straight game to 420.

 

QB: Brian Griese @ Vikings against Aaron Brooks @ Panthers

 

Griese goes against a Vikings team that has improved it's D on paper. It will be early in the season and the new guys could take some time to gel. Brooks draws a difficult matchup against the Panthers defense. Still, he should take this matchup by 4.

RB1: Willis McGahee @ Texans against Ahman Green @ Lions

 

Both backs draw relatively easy matchups. But Ahman is already having some health issues at this point while McGahee is becoming one of the premier RB's in the league. McGahee will take this one by 4.

RB2: Kevin Jones vs Packers against Steven Jackson @ 49ers

 

Kevin Jones was on a tear to end last season, and he couldn't have asked for a much better matchup than a Packers D that is falling apart. Jackson draws a very inferior 49ers team, but Faulk will likely still be a factor. Jones by 5.

RB3: T Jones/Benson/R Brown against Cadillac Williams @ Vikings.

 

All of my #3 RB's draw tough matchups with the Bears facing Washington and Ronnie going against the Broncos. Caddy: See Griese, but he still might be sharing carries at this point. This breaks pretty even at this point.

WR1: Roy Williams vs Packers against Torry Holt @ 49ers

 

Both of these guys draw terrific matchups in week 1. Roy is becoming one of the premier WR's in the league, but Holt still holds a good advantage here. Holt by 5.

WR2: Joey Galloway @ Vikings against Darrell Jackson @ Jaguars

 

Galloway came on strong late, and see Griese. Jackson is also drawing a tough Jaguars D. He takes this on Joey by a good bit however. Jackson by 5.

Prediction: Hammerheads by 8.

 

Hammer is clearly the favorite in this matchup. While 420 may be able to bully around some of the 1 and 2 RB teams, Hammer's solid 3 RB's along with a top notch pair of WR's will be a very difficult task. The firepower is there for an upset, though.
