HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. -- New York Jets receiver Justin McCareins strained his calf in practice Friday and is questionable for Monday night's game against the Atlanta Falcons.

"Hes going to go get it looked at now, so well see where its at," coach Herman Edwards said.

Also, cornerback Ty Law was downgraded to questionable because his back tightened up on him. He was limited in practice. Running back Curtis Martin also missed practice with a sore knee but is listed as probable.

The Jets' injury woes just won't end.

After yesterday's practice, coach Herman Edwards said wide receiver Justin McCareins left with a strained calf and running back Curtis Martin (knee) and cornerback Ty Law (back) participated in a limited number of drills.

According to Edwards, McCareins was to be examined yesterday afternoon and he is listed as questionable for Monday's game in Atlanta.

Jerricho Cotchery, and not No. 3 receiver Wayne Cherbet, slid into McCareins' starting spot for the remainder of practice and will start if McCareins can't play.

As for Martin, he'd sat out one practice each of the last two weeks to rest his sore knee, but this is the first time he's missed consecutive practices.

Edwards kept Martin's status as probable for Monday, but said there's no guarantee he'll practice today.

Law was downgraded to questionable.

"If he doesn't go (today), then we'll just have to wait and see," Edwards said of Martin. "It will be a game-time decision."

All this comes during a month in which the Jets also lost center Kevin Mawae and running back Derrick Blaylock for the season, which followed a season-ending injury to starting quarterback Chad Pennington and the loss of backup quarterback Jay Fiedler until at least mid-November.
