Dolphins Tebucky Jones may be out for year

The Dolphins may be without safety Tebucky Jones the remainder of the season if an MRI to be performed on his right pectoral muscle confirms early concerns that the muscle is at least partially torn.

Jones' injury was seemingly the most serious of a slew of Miami injuries following the 30-20 loss to Kansas City.

Defensive end Kevin Carter sustained a calf injury, receiver Marty Booker suffered an ankle injury, safety Lance Schulter sustained a thigh bruise although he played with the injury and cornerback Sam Madison suffered a hip pointer.

Madison said he would be fine, considering the Dolphins are off today and tomorrow and are nine days removed from their Oct. 30 game against New Orleans.

Booker's injury was a sprain as X-rays on the ankle were negative.

Jones was hopeful, but not optimistic that further exams might bring good news.

''It's bad but we'll see for sure tomorrow,'' Jones said.

A torn pectoral muscle typically requires surgery. A similar injury forced the Dolphins to put Junior Seau on the injured reserve list last season, ending his season prematurely.

too bad. tebucky is good, hard hitting player on a revitalized fin defense under saban. he is an even greater guy. i met him once when he was at the senior bowl and had the opporunity to talk with him for about 45mins. he also had a great story in espn the magazine a few months(?) ago.
