treewarden 1 Posted October 28, 2005 Guy emails me wanting to upgrade his QB position but leaves no offer, just what would I want for Brunell... Me QB (1): Bulger, Collins, Brunell RB (2): Westbrook, SJax, Fragile, FWP, TBell WR (3): Boldin, McCardell, Gates, Branch, Chatman (Walker/Ferguson ) Him QB (1): Vick, McNair, Roethlisberger RB (2): McGahee, Dunn, SDavis, MAnderson, ASmith WR (3): SSmith, SMoss, Fitzgerald, Lloyd, TTaylor First offer; Brunell/Gates for McNair/SMoss Told him I didn't want him to have the Brunell/Moss connection as he is in my division He rejected I counter; Brunell/McCardell for Roethlisberger/SSmith He counters; Brunell for Roethlisber/Lloyd My last offer; Brunell for SSmith Does it appear I low-balled him with my offers? It blows me away when someone claims to want to trade, states his glaring need and yet refuses to give up his glaring strength to gain something. Venting is over, now back to your regular programming!
hardboy23 0 Posted October 28, 2005 You are low balling him and I don't think anyone in here would accept that trade. You are trading a player that was initially to be your 3rd QB (although I would say he should start for you now) for what would be his best WR. He would not be gaining enough by making the trade. Now, if he were interested in Bell (being he has Anderson), I would throw a RB into the trade offer and try to entice him a bit more. Since you only start 2 RBs, why keep 5 when you could possibly use one as trade bait. I would offer Brunell, McCardell, and Bell (or even FWP) for Roethlisberger, S. Smith, and A. Smith If he doesn't bite, tell him he will not be getting Brunell. Maybe he will cave and offer back a previously rejected offer.
urmother 0 Posted October 28, 2005 ur first 2 offers were reasonable,. 3rd looks a bit petty. i'd try brunell + s-jax + boldin for vick + mcgahee +s. smith you get 2 upgrades and don't need a 3rd QB much anyway. he sees it as a way to unload vick and not lose a whole lot at the other 2 spots. FF_Guru_Guy 0 Posted October 28, 2005 You guys are lowballing each other and then acting indignant when the other doesn't accept. Some fair offers include: Brunell/Boldin for McNair/SSmith Brunell/Westbrook/McCardell for McNair/SSmith/ASmith
OuttaLuck 0 Posted October 28, 2005 I don't think you "low-balled" him, but it looks like you made him two offers before he even made any counter-offer. I've found there are certain guys who always want you to make the first concrete offer, probably in the hope that you'll make a mistake, but if you don't offer him a trade extremely favorable to him, he'll then try to "chip you down" from a legitimate first offer. Whenever anyone asks me "What do you want for player A?", I've learned to respond with a comment to the effect of "Thanks for the interest in player A, but I'd prefer to know what you're willing to offer before I consider trading him, because I don't want to look at or consider our rosters and the effect of a trade without knowing the player or players you're willing to move". My experience has been that type of response usually separates those who are willing to make a fair deal from those looking to get the FF equivalent of a tag sale buy. Just my opinion.
