hoffdaddy 1 Posted May 1, 2006 I know the guy doesn't have that blow them away impact, but he appeared to be a pretty solid all around prospect. Am I missing something with this guy that caused him not to be drafted? Or is it the injury that really derailed his NFL potential? Trying to piece this one together. I haven't see him play much, but he always seemed like a good all around running back. I saw him ranked as high at RB12 prior to the draft. Dontrell Moore, New Mexico (5-9¾, 210; 4.63) Moore had a complete workout at the Combine. He ran for over 6,000 yards in high school, including 2,600 yards and 33 TDs as a senior. He was also an all-state cornerback and all-around athlete. He ran for 4,973 yards in four years at New Mexico. He's a solid player that lacks great speed. He can do everything and is a lot like Eagles RB Brian Westbrook, but not as fast. ETA: I see now that Moore signed a UDFA deal with the Jets. That is a good fit for him, though I'm still surprised his name wasn't called. http://media.www.dailylobo.com/media/stora...gepublisher.com Former Lobo wide receiver Hank Baskett and tailback DonTrell Moore are two notable UNM players who did not get selected in the 2006 draft. However, Moore signed a free-agent contract with the New York Jets.

Amazing that nobody looked at his college career and though gameday production might outweigh a bad workout.

Amazing that nobody looked at his college career and though gameday production might outweigh a bad workout. No doubt. And from what I read about him, he was a big time Notre Dame recruit who missed his flight for his ND recruiting visit due to a snowstorm. He then took that as a sign that he should stay closer to home. I don't know. I like the guy's overall game, but being a UDFA is defintely a red flag. BennyAndTheJets 0 Posted May 1, 2006 I read earlier today that the Jets signed him as an undrafted free agent.
