Dynasty leagues at least three years later

Recommended Posts

Thinking of starting a Dynasty League and I'd like to know how these things progress. Therefore, I'd love to hear from those of you who have been ina league like this for at least three years.

Do all of your owners participate actively?

How many teams are there?

Have owners left/changed? How was this handled?

Have there been expansion teams? How handled?

Have certain rosters quickly become non-competitive?

Is there year-round ineteraction?

How's the level of trading?

When do you have your roookie draft?

Anything else you can throw out as learned would be great. Thanks.

Do all of your owners participate actively? Not always, but we have 9/12 consistently active and vocal, all at least set their lineups weekly, majority pick up players on waiver wire regularly. We meet every year for the draft and have averaged 9 attendees per year for 12 years.

How many teams are there? 12

Have owners left/changed? How was this handled? We've had 1 leave in 12 years - no joke, he said because pride was involved, it was a sin for him to have the team anymore. We had a player "waiting" for a franchise to come available and gave him the team as it stood at the time the quiter wanted out.

Have there been expansion teams? How handled? None yet.

Have certain rosters quickly become non-competitive? Perennially. It's really like the NFL in that some teams just don't draft well consistently, and they give up and trade some of their best players for "potential" midway through the season.

Is there year-round ineteraction? Absolutely. Rule changes, taunting, draft location planning, naked pictures of wives...that sort of thing.

How's the level of trading? Less than in a redraft league, but when trades happen, they're usually substantial. Big name players for future draft picks and potential stars.

When do you have your roookie draft? We have an available players draft (since we can only keep 4, restrict 8) on NFL kickoff weekend.

I have to say the keeper league I'm in is still my favorite of any league I've ever been in. More people stay more engaged throughout the year and grudges are held longer.
