Mocks and Mockery of

Recommended Posts

I notice every year that guys get angry when we do mock drafts and someone takes someone out of the order or area that they should have been picked in.

Im not talking about taking Ryan Moats in the 2nd round (a guy is just screwing around at that point) but the example Im talking about is if say Chester Taylor was taken at the bottom of a 12 team mock....

I think this brings some realism to the mocks becuase there is always at least one guy who is on his own planet during the draft and reaches for guys that he doesnt need to or "has that special feeling"

Thoughts?

Couldn't agree more. Almost every draft has out of leftfield picks. How owners react to these selections on the fly often determines their success. One of the biggest mistakes a fantasy owner can make is going into a draft assuming everyone thinks like them and developing a concrete strategy based on that mindset. If they do that more often than not they can get rattled easily and not handle the draft day pressure.

Sometimes Im even the guy on the other planet....In my keeper league I always take young WR in rounds 4-6 hoping that just one of them will play out of his mind for the season...it worked with Walker in 04 but blew up in my face with Charles Rogers, Reggie Williams last year....Though its different from what Im noting here I reached on both of those guys and it left veteran types available for others to get that Im sure they didnt think that they were going to get,.

Are they mad or just questioning it? After all it is a mock. Its not ludicrous to take him in the second, but this early in the preseason he could probably be had still a few rounds later.

Sometimes I think its anger as if someone is screwing up the whole works but sometimes people roll with it..
