Dog Face Gremlins211 0 Posted May 12, 2006 The Miami Herald reports Toronto Argonauts assistant GM Greg Mohns indicated that talks between the Dolphins and the Canadian Football League team were ``progressing'' with regard to allowing RB Ricky Williams to play in the CFL. ''Something may get done here pretty soon,'' Mohns said Thursday. Dolphins spokesman Harvey Greene said the team had no comment on the matter. The Dolphins initially didn't like the idea of the running back playing in Canada, but they backed off after agent Leigh Steinberg pointed out the financial burden facing Williams, who was suspended by the NFL for a minimum of one year. One source said of Williams heading to Canada: 'Unless it blows up, the Dolphins are not going to stand in [Williams'] way of playing.'' Last Friday, Saban indicated he wasn't particularly enamored of the idea of Williams risking injury by playing in Canada. However, Saban never completely shut the door on the idea. http://www.ffmastermind.com/quickbits.php
famousb 11 Posted May 12, 2006 i can't see MIA blocking him playing... if he doesn't play, he'll sit out the year, and possibly never come back to the NFL. If he does play for the CFL, he could have a monster year and have great trade value. If he plays and only has a mediocre year, so what? at least he's still on football shape when he comes back to MIA. If he plays and gets hurt, and i'm certain that will be covered in his contract w/ MIA and the CFL team somehow so it won't affect MIA either way...
football_scooter 0 Posted May 12, 2006 it can only benefit MIA to let him play. 1. They get paid whatever he makes since he owes them millions 2. If he blows up, he has excellent trade value - like high 2nd, low 1st rounder...Denver will jump on it like a fat kid on a ho ho. 3. if he gets hurt, whatever - they still got his paycheck. this is a no brainer to let him play. Now Ricky has to hope that they have good ganja in that part of Canada and that Bouve doesn't go stalking him there.
Eriadoc 4 Posted May 12, 2006 The Dolphins initially didn't like the idea of the running back playing in Canada, but they backed off after agent Leigh Steinberg pointed out the financial burden facing Williams.... You'd think at some point Ricky might be smart enough to consider that financial burden when he lights up.

krokus 0 Posted May 12, 2006 If he gets hurt Rasta loses tremendous value to Miami in trade or otherwise. He is a proven top NFL runningback with nothing to prove by going to the CFL. Won't happen - move along folks nothing to see here...
