chao22mien 0 Posted July 24, 2006 1QB 2RB 3WR here's the deal. i am in a fantasy league with a bunch of my poker friends. whoever finishes highest gets to choose where they draft. 10 team league. I.E. if i lose in 10th place, i have the last choice which could be the 10th pick or who knows..maybe the 6th pick. If I win the tourney i have first choice, so i can go #1. I can definitely outlast 6 of these guys and can probably win. With that being said, in a 10 team league draft, where would you want to draft and why? I have 2 options. 1. Draft #1 and take LJ. Hope to get the best RB left and nab a top tier WR or 2. Draft #10. Note- this is a very weak league ... the ones wehre u'll see peyton or 2 WRs go 1st round so it may be better to go last. they also rely on yahoo rankings, so although it may sound crazy, i could get a Lamont Jordan and Steven Jackson (based on yahoo prerankings-- i know they are ridiculous) then in the 3rd round grab a WR the way i look at it, i dont really wanna be #4-7. I like 1-3 so i can have LJ/LT/SA. only problem is there will be significant dropoff in my 2nd RB. is this worth still taking a top 3 pick. i kind of like picking at the end and taking 2 solid Rbs. let me know what u think? any help appreciated. It comes down to- do you want the NUmber 1 and 20th overall guys, of number 10 and 11? Thats the way i look at it. If you win your tournament, take the last pick. You'll have a more balanced team. If you take two RB's with those picks, you wont have to worry about about RB's later, allowing you to wait and focus on WR's and a QB with your next four picks. My sleeper WR this year is Roy Williams. He should have a good year and you could probably get him in the 7th-9th rounds.
Bad_Intentions 0 Posted July 25, 2006 I'd go early, 1-3 if you can, pick up a big time stud and if they draft how you think you'll be in good position to put excellent players around your stud RB. And eat them alive when the season starts.
biglou 2 Posted July 25, 2006 I would go number 3. Let somebody else to all the thinking and sweating and pick-up whoever is left after the choose between SA, LJ, and LT2. If these people are as horrible as you say, then another 2nd tier RB or top teir WR will be available at pick #18. Pick up your 2nd runner or 1st reciever in round 3. Go on from there. BadMrFrosty 0 Posted July 26, 2006 I would say 1,2,3 However if they really suck at drafting I like to be in the middle so I can see what people are doing and pick up the most value. If you have picks back to back you can't take as much advantage of mistakes people make and who knows what they are going to do in the next 20 picks. Getting a stud isn't going to win you the league drafting the other spots will It would be hard to resist taking a stud, but I would rather draft in the 5 or 6 spot, especially if the competion sucks and is unpredictable. Trust me it is definately the right decision then.
