Another direction IMO. If Jacobs gets more work than just short yardage this year, then I might think different. How about this from a fantasy and "fantasy" perspective? Michael Turner? Free agent at the end of the year and could be 2007's Lamont Jordan. Of course, being a Packers fan, that's why the Pack is clearing so much cap room

Just a few points. The Giants staff see Jacobs, who spent the offseason reviewing tapes of Eddie George, as more than a goalline back, and they are grooming him as such. He impressed running the ball in camp last season as well as in the preseason. But the consideration with young backs is in their ability to handle the aspects of the game when the ball isn't in their hands. For Jacob's case, this is very much a work in progress.

We saw a significant development yesterday. Jacobs has been behind Ward on the depth chart since drafted, but on the first day of camp, it was Jacobs, not Ward, who saw the reps with the second team. Now keep in mind that the depth chart is fluid this time of year, so the change may not be permanent. However, it is pretty apparent that although they like Ward in a back up role, it is Jacobs that they see the potential in down the road. This is still a work in progress, but I suspect we're going to see a bit more of Brandon Jacobs this year. Contrary to popular opinion, the staff is quite high on Jacobs as a runner, and the early indications suggest he has taken strides in those other areas which are of particular interest to them.
