cfly12 0 Posted August 26, 2006 Had a tough finish last yr. Need help!! 10 team league TD/Yardage, league PPR Flex player can include be a QB I am picking 4th. 1) Who should I take in the 4th spot Tiki(31), Jackson, (Martz is gone),R brown, R johnson or Portis. 2) Who should I follow up with in the second round Your help is appreciated
abussey13 1 Posted August 26, 2006 I would take Ronnie Brown or Jackson over Tiki. For some reason, I just dont think Tiki will be able to perform as well as last year with Brandon Jacobs in the mix. Even Tiki said that it was an abnormal year with something divine driving him (because of all of the adversity the organization faced with deaths of owners, etc.) . Not to knock Tiki because he's my favorite, but I am going to take a risk and go with Ronnie Brown. And, in the next round I am going to take a top WR [Fitz or Harrison, perhaps Wayne are my first two choices, I think]. I may take a second RB in the second round if that is how my draft is going....hoping for a Westbrook, Parker, T. Jones, etc. Thanks for respoding to mine. shake_a_leg 0 Posted August 26, 2006 Well...let's do this one by one. Portis. No. A few weeks ago, hell yes. Now, there's just too many questions. I'm not going to the extreme that some people around here are going and saying he's not even a top 10 pick BUT...there are a lot of people saying that. Maybe you'll get extremely lucky and he'll be there for your 2nd round pick. Ronnie. No. I'm slow to jump on the hype. And I do think it's hype. Most of the pre-preseason polls had this guy as an early 2nd rounder adn I never really saw anything in the last few games to really make me change my mind. I didn't notice him jumping up to the top 6 until after Portis got hurt, so it makes me think that a lot of peoples boards got totally jumbled and they're just scrambling for fill-ins. Rudi and Steven. Definate maybes. These guys are a coin flip for me. I wasn't real high on Rudi until I really started looking at the possiblities for Cinci this year. Carson is going to be ready, so they will pretty much start where they left off last year...going to be a long season (in a good way) in Cincinnatti. Steven is a solid back that you're not going to miss with too often. He has injury tendencies but he's a bruiser when he's healthy. I suppose since when we talk about Detroit the fact that Martz is there is used as a positive, losing Martz in STL should be a negative, but Martz liked to throw....and throw....and throw. So Steven might see some gains based on Martz loss. Tiki is the solid choice at 4. He's been a top 5 candidate all year long up til now. Eli is poised to make big gains this season and I'm not all that impressed with the NYG receivers. Tiki catches a ton of balls and runs for a ton of yardage. Pure stats, he blows everyone else away. I don't think you'll be disappointed with him at 4. This list: Tiki Rudi Steven Ronnie Portis As far as 2nd round goes...tough to say. I hate "targeting" guys in later rounds because you don't really know who is going to go where. If you know your league and know owners tendencies, you'll be able to figure it out. However, 10 team league flex positions you should probably go RB simply because they are at a premium and scarce compared to WR's. QB's are pretty much the same value from 6 to 15, so you can't really go wrong with any pick. FWP, DDavis, maybe Dunn, Foster, Gore, RBush...hard to say. kbtegp 0 Posted August 26, 2006 It comes down to this. I think Tiki in a down year is about equal to everybody else "up" year on that list. If upside is close, you minimize risk.

As for next round play it as it comes! I usually go RB/RB, but last night in my 12 teamer, I took LJ at #3 and followed with Harrison in 2nd, Fitz in 3rd, and Dunn in 4th. At each WR pick, I looked at the questions and #2-3 level RB's left. I knew one would fall back to me with next pick, so I took top WR! If few are left though, grab RB! bunnerjk 0 Posted August 26, 2006 I think Tiki is the safest pick at #4. Stick with the best available RB in the 2nd round.
