A couple of notes:

- Yes, I know that both of my starting RBs are Week 8 byes. Ultimately I felt that the value at those picks dramatically outweighed "sacraficing" one of them for one week out of the season and taking someone else.

- In the 5th round I had originally been targeting WR Javon Walker (DEN) who had dropped farther then I had thought into the late 5th round only to have him scooped up in the pick before me, which left me partially scambling. Getting a No. 1 RB there, albeit unproven, seemed like it ended up well. I think I got pretty good depth at WR later in the draft.

- There was a MONSTER run on QBs early in this draft -- by the end of the 2nd round all of the Top 4 (Manning, Palmer, Hasselbeck and Brady) were off the board. In the next few rounds the middle-teir guys went off (Bulger, Eli, Bledsoe, et al). I think that even though he's a risk, Culpepper was good value in the 6th round, though other mocks had him going in the 8th (but, then again, there weren't big QB runs early.)

- Miller was taken at this spot (I was eyeing him throughout the draft, so I wasn't disappointed to miss out on other guys earlier) because there was a big run on TEs the round before and I didn't think he'd make it back to me if I didn't take him on that pick right after the turn.

- Was going to take Chris Simms in the 13th round, but he was taken 2 spots before I picked. Was going to take Kitna (there's nothing left at this point -- a LOT of teams took 3 QBs) but since he's got the same Week 8 bye that Culpepper has, that didn't make a lot of sense... So Volek it was. There was one team that possesses both Carson Palmer AND Matt Hasselbeck -- both Week 5 byes (WTF?) -- so I *might* swing a deal for one of them.... We'll see, though.

So, how'd I do? I tried to explain some of the reasoning behind some of my picks and I do think I did better than most of the mocks that I played out prior to the real thing... So am I completely up a creek here or does it look good?

I'd say that is a contender. Good RBs (3 starters, no questions), decent WRs (I am not as in love with ROY as others are), and good at QB (like Daunte this season). Nice job, and good luck. As others said, you have some ammo for an upgrade at either WR or QB if need be.

My 12-team results from the 9 spot.

Overall I think it was a good draft. I like your RB's a lot, but I think you are sort of weak at WR. I like Health Miller this year a lot. With the Bus gone ROthy with hit the RZ more. And depending on Portis, Duckett could have a huge year. Good draft!

Yeah, I've been thinking the same thing, too. Unfortunately, in the 5th where I was taking a QB he had the best value (by far) and I didn't feel he'd be around by the time my next pick rolled around. That said, I mentioned in my original post that one team had a HUGE mental brainfart (owner that had the No. 1 pick -- LJ -- took BOTH Palmer and Hasselbeck with his 2nd and 3rd round picks at the turn)... which could be advantageous to me.

Since both Palmer and Hasselbeck are Week 5 byes, one has to be dealt. He lucked out in that Kevin Jones was there for his 4th round pick, so he's got a bona-fide No. 1 RB to go side-by-side with LJ, but his WRs are abysmal.

So, I'm considering offering a package of Culpepper + WR for Palmer... My only hesitation is 1) Palmer plays tonight and that's a double-edged sword (say I am able to trade for him and he gets hurt, or if he plays lights out his trade-value gets even more pricey).

Not quite sure what WR it'll take to get a deal done, but when your starters are Reggie Brown and Joe Jurevicius I think I'm dealing from a position of strength. Culpepper still gives him that flexibility beyond Week 5 to seek a trade for a better WR without *any* rush to make a deal.

Love the RBs, TE and WR. only weakness is #2 QB, but he'll only play one week. Great draft.
