woodchuck312 0 Posted August 28, 2006 10 team league i had 2nd pick overall. Must start QB, RB, WR/RB, WR, WR, WR/TE, TE. K, DEF 1. RB Tomlinson 2. RB Willie Parker 3. WR Randy Moss 4. WR Derrick Mason 5. TE Chris Cooley 6. QB Bledsoe 7. RB Kevin Jones ( a steal in 7th i think) 8. WR Andre Johnson (also a steal) 9. WR Antonio Bryant 10. DEF Bears defense 11. QB Trent Green 12. RB DeAngelo Williams 13. WRDoug Gabriel 14. RB Jerious Norwood 15. K Mike Vanderjagt How did I do? I have abye week problem that will come up soon though, both my QB's are bye week 3. I am seriously considering dropping Trent Green. Michael Vick wasn't picked up i was thinking of dropping Green and picking up Vick? IS that wise? Chris Simms is also an option. OR should i hold and hope Green has a good 1st week and try to trade him for something. We can also have 2 starting TE's , i like Cooley, but Vernon Davis wasn't picked up, i was thinking of grabbing him, is he worth it and if so who should i drop to take his place? thanks
templeheels 0 Posted August 28, 2006 You have a good team overall. Some might question drafting LT second instead of Larry Johnson/Shaun Alexander, but to me it's a wash - they're all great. I think you picked Cooley and Mason too high, but it hardly mattered since you got Kevin Jones and Andre Johnson so late. No need to rush on dumping Trent Green, see how the first week or two play out. My one suggestion is to pick up Michael Turner (LT's backup) instead of Deangelo Williams or Norwood. LT has been fragile at times the past few seasons, and Turner will light it up if called upon. Also, since your league is so WR heavy, I'd carefully monitor week one performances and add depth there. woodchuck312 0 Posted August 28, 2006 thanks for the advice i agree i pulled the trigger too soon on Mason and Cooley, i think i made up for it later though. Alexander was taken with the 1st pick, i would have taken alexander over LT. Thanks for the advice i'll hold off for now. Should i let Vick and Vernon Davis stay in the free agent poll then? templeheels 0 Posted August 28, 2006 I really like Vernon Davis, but I doubt he's better than Cooley - and most TEs just don't do enough to warrant two roster spots. I think Vick will be OK this year, but is he better than Bledsoe or Green? To me, no. And in most cases I don't think you can hold three roster spots for QBs. That said, since I do like both Davis and Vick, you might consider dumping Doug Gabriel and picking up either Davis or Vick. On bye weeks you can always pick up a WR of equal caliber to Gabriel. But if it were me, I'd leave Vick and Davis in the free agent pool - and try not to second-guess when someone else picks them up.
Turf Nazi 0 Posted August 28, 2006 good draft other than the bye week deal. I wouldn't rush to get rid of Trent Green. There is a possibility he starts off hotter than Drew Bledsoe, so I would wait until week 3 to make that change. As far as TE goes, Cooley is going to have a good year in Joe Gibbs offense. I wouldn't take a chance on Vernon Davis unless you have room on your roster for a backup spot. Please see my draft.. thanks, Turf Nazi
woodchuck312 0 Posted August 28, 2006 thanks for the advice guys. I'll probably let Vick sit in the FA pool , there is a chance i may dump Gabriel and pick up Vernon Davis, as below him there isn't much left in the FA poll for TE's. And the fact that there is both a a TE starting slot and a WR/TE starting slot, it would be a good option down the line that i could play Cooley and Davis in the same week if i have a WR with an injury or a bad match up. What do you guys think? Basically is Vernon Davis a better backup than Gabriel?
