FAN OF STEEL 0 Posted September 1, 2006 I have the 13th pick in a 14 team league. 1 pt / 15yds rush or rec. 3 pt TD's 1/2 pt. per catch. I need some opinions about who to grab. I'd love to get 2 top WR since all top RB's will be gone, but I just don't know if there will be ANY useful RB's left by the time it comes back to me (pick#41). I'm considering going McGahee and then grabbing CJ or Holt. Any opinions will help. Leave a link and I'll answer yours. Thanks
Killer Elite 0 Posted September 1, 2006 Remember Everyone who picks after you will be trying to grab their second RB. So by not taking a RB in a 14 team league you will end up starting Chris Brown and Ahman Green. Kinda scarey. I think in this format you have to take 2 RBs. Even if the best 2 WR are on the Board. Then come back in the 3rd and 4th and grab value. A 3rd RB if there is a good candidate (though there will probably be 30 RBs off the board), top 15 WR or top 5 QB. Dont fall for Manning with your first 2 picks unless you get more than 3ots per TD for QBs. stick with grabbing RBs. You will thanks me. But if you pass on RBs in the first 2 picks I think you will be sorry as you will never be able to trade for what you could have picked. I think the revears is true for those drafting 1-5. I think their best option in picks 2 and 3 are Value. But thats because at 13 you grabed 2 of the top 16 RBs.

Thanks I had a late pick (16 out of 18), and I went with WR studs (Smith/T.O.), since by then the RB pool was getting to the point of mediocrity. I was able to score T. Bell late 3rd round, and grabbed Green before all the QBs evaporated. Scraped bottom of barrel for another RB (Gado), then grabbed Indy D. Caught Vanderjagd (sp?) and Troupe to finish up. Look for an updated draft list from ESPN or FFToday to check out the shifts (especially since this is drop weekend) as close to draft time as possible - kinda stupid to draft someone getting cut, or take a chance on Leinert or grabbing Greg Jones late in the draft. Hopefully your draft folks will list injuries during the draft so you can see what's going on...
durangomexico 0 Posted September 1, 2006 I think you can take RB-WR in this spot. I would NOT want to be starting backs that you drafted in the 3rd or 4th round all season. That could get depressing. I had a late pick this year, #9 of 12, and took Rudi Johnson and then Chad Johnson on the turnaround. Two RB's is also a possibility, but I felt better having at least one stud in my starting lineup. Also, some RBs are going to go down further in the draft due to questions - D Davis may still be around in the 2nd round if not the 3rd. If his knee is healthy (and stays that way), he's a piledriver.
