Trade up from #4 spot to #3 spot (12 man league)

Recommended Posts

This is a big $ 12 man league and I'm not sure who to take at #4 overall (my current pick) . I know I should take Tiki but I'm leaning towards Ronnie :( .

Since I'm not sure about pick #4, I spoke with the guy at the #3 spot. He's interested in moving back to the #4 spot b/c he'll just take Manning there (6 pts passing TDs w/ long distance bonus).

He wants me to give him my 2nd rounder #21 and I'd get his 3rd rounder #27.

So, if I do it, I'm a lock for Alexander or Tomlinson :dunno: (LJ is going #1) and then I'll have the #27 and #28 overall picks.

My potential trade partner will take my #4 overall and also have two picks in the 2nd round (#21 and #22).

Do you do it to get into the top 3?

Thanks - I'll answer yours (leave link).

If he is taking Manning already you still get one of the RB right? So why deal. I dont think its a good idea. You will be better off keeping your later picks. Grab one of the next 6-8 RBs.. you will be fine with a R. Brown, SJax or T. Barber as your #1.

the #4 spot IS where we see the first big drop off in RB's, so I understand your motivation. The question is whether Tiki and whomever you might get at #27 would outperform Tomlinson/Alexander and your #21. In my 12 team big $ league draft, #20-#30 went like this:

(Domanick Davis went #17, sine this wa s a while back)

20. J. Jones

21. Harrison

22. K. Jones

23. A. Boldin

24. W. McGahee

25. C. Taylor

26. W. Parker

27. H. Ward

28. R. Bush

29. R. Droughns

30. M. Bell

So, in my league, it's be Tiki and Harrison/Julius Jones vs. a top 3 back and Willie Parker, Reggie Bush, or MIke Bell. To me, it looks like the difference in WR and RB isn't that steep between #21 and #27, so I'd say make the trade for a #3 spot

Thanks for your reply but he's only gonna take Manning at #4. If he stays at #3, he's going RB (SA or LT).

I have to move up with him if I want to get SA or LT.

I'll look for your posts.

Thanks a lot.

That's the way I was looking at it. Right now, I would pick like this....

1.4) Ronnie - I like the whole situation with Ronnie - talent, team, schedule - but I'm a Miami homer

2.21) Randy Moss - If he's there, I'm going to take him b/c I see him having a huge year

3.28) Culpepper/McNabb/R. Bush - Our league is QB friendly and I seem to be one of the few who like Bush

But I don't think that's better than this...

1.3) Tomlinson - elite RB

3.27) Boldin - I'll have to get lucky for him to be there (maybe Wayne)

3.28) Culpepper/McNabb/R. Bush

____________________________________________________

I see a pretty solid top 28 players (in no real particular order):

elite RBs

1. LJ

2. SA

3. LT

solid #1 RBs

4. Ronnie

5. Tiki

6. Edge

7. Rudi

8. SJax

9. Jordan

10. Cadillac

11. McGahee

#1 WRs

12. Chad

13. Randy

14. Harrison

15. Fitz

16. TO

17. Boldin

18. S. Smith

19. Holt

20. Chambers

Elite QB

21. Manning

Solid #2 RBs

22. Portis (only b/c of the shoulder)

23. FWP

24. Dunn

25. Westbrook

26. R. Bush

Solid #1 QBs

27. Culpepper (homer alert)

28. McNabb

And that list doesn't even include J. Lewis (worried about breakdown), K. Jones (worried about his talent and whole team) and/or Julius Jones (RBBC).

I think that leads me to be pretty comfortable grabbing one of the "big 3" RBs and while still landing two of my top 28.
