11th pick in a 16 teamer today

Recommended Posts

8 hours and counting until my big draft. We have expanded from 14-16 teams this year, and it should be very challenging.

I pick 11th.

I am targetting a rb at 11, but will not select Portis.

Targetting L. Jordan, R. Brown, R. Johnson and C. Williams. If Manning goes before 11, I will get one of them.

However I really like all the stud wrs in 2nd round, and would love to go that way in round

I would be left with the likes of Foster, Dillon, Gore and Lundy as my # 2 rb should I go that route.

Would I also be advised to take # 3 rb ahead of starting qb.

Thanks to all who respond.

This is the 12th year of our league, and the owners all know their s ** t

We had an 18-team draft. I think that even a 14-team league is pushing it. That being said, you need to grab RBs this year - McGahee may be around 1st round, and he's been working on his receiving skills. 2nd round, you'll have the 22nd pick (if y'all are snaking), and Westbrook (a pretty good dual-threat back) might be there. Now you're going to have to hope that a good QB/WR is going to be around - Hasselback/Moss might be a good idea if they're around when your turn comes around again. Watch out for D. Jackson - a great player, but the knee issue is too chancy. Go for the rest of your position players later - try to get at least 3 decent WR, and if a decent RB is available for your 4th pick, you may want to grab him instead of a WR.

Take a look at scoring from last year - the points differential from 2nd to 11th on TEs is 40 points for the season. Same thing for 2nd to 16th for kickers. And 2nd to 13th for defences is about 60. That's about 2.5 points per game difference between top notch and mediocre. So don't fall into the "Chicago D is available, and I have to snap it up" trap. Go with the higher-scoring positions first.

If nothing else, print off the rankings from here or ESPN and plan your picks out. This year, RBs are going to go fast.
