kbtegp 0 Posted September 21, 2006 12 Team Dynasty Keeper My Team: QB: McNabb, Leftwich RB: Parker, KJones, Maroney, MBarber, Jacobs, Dayne, Davenport WR: RoyWilliams, Mason, Housh, Edwards, Jennings, Jackson TE: Gates PK: Feely D: Jags, Chargers Two different teams have trade offers in: #1: Foster, McNair, Brandon Jones for Jacobs, Jennings, Leftwich #2: Jacobs, Jennings for LJSmith, McCardell #1: I'm thinking an improvement over KJones at RB might put me over the top this year, but is Foster an improvement? #2: Need a b/u TE and Smith would certainly fit the bill. Might even make Gates trade bait. I think I'd be overpaying on both of these, but I've been wrong before. None of the players I'm giving up would realistically crack my l/u. Vertical Smiles 0 Posted September 21, 2006 I don't like either deal. You don't need Foster (who's value is VERY shaky) with Maroney on board (guys heading in oppostie direction). McNair is useless in a dynasty and BJones may never crack your lineup. With respect to the other deal, McCardell is winding down in his career while Jennings career is taking off, but who knows what it will be if/when Favre retires. Plus Rivers is being kept with a short leash, as you probably know by now seeing Gates' numbers, but it won't be that way forever. Jacobs is a wildcard, I wouldn't deal him unless a better offer comes along that helps you upgrade. I like the idea of getting LJSmith to help you through the Rivers learning curve if needed, but you're giving up too much.
Cougars77 0 Posted September 21, 2006 I'd only do #1. You aren't giving up much unless Tiki gets hurt.
midnitetoqr 0 Posted September 21, 2006 I don't play in a dynasty league, so I might not have the correct perspective...but I don't think either of these deals benefits your team. #1 - You lose a beast with a future. You get a RB whose job this year is threatened, and who has, fairly or unfairly, the "injury-prone" knock against him. You lose a young QB who's still developing. You get a Timex of a QB who's been knocked around for years and is underperforming thus far this year...but probably won't ever surpass McNabb on your depth chart before retiring. #2 - Again, you lose Jacobs. You gain a WR in the twilight of his career and a great back-up TE. While it's true that none of the players you're thinking of giving up will ever crack your line-up...will any of the players you're trading for crack your line-up? If not, wouldn't you look to the future? Of the two, I think #2 is more palatable. But it honestly doesn't make sense to me to trade away the future of your weakest position for depth at one of your strongest.
