Can you purchase a savings bond online and have it mailed out?

When my friends have kids I give them a savings bond. I need to get another one but I'd rather not have to drive to the bank and go through the hassle. My laziness knows no bounds.

 

Any other decent long term investment vehicle would be acceptable.

 

And no, I wouldn't consider 'forever stamps'
