Giants Fan 85 Posted November 4, 2007 ... for the same cost as my tuition to U of A ... and I don't care where ASU or NAU ranks .... OVERALL ... U of A is a better school. I mean if you want to count championships ... men and women's ... football, baseball, basketball ... if you want to count up that ... U of A wins by a landslide. I can't speak for the award winning cardiology, like Dr. Jarvik could, or giant mirror creation like the one's in the Hubble project ... or the time Lute coached them to an NCAA title ... but I could tell you ... that ASU .... it's a stretch to call it a University. ASU is known as .... the third best University in Arizona. Tucson existed way before Phoenix. Old Pueblo. Actually the most Northern Spanish church is ... San Xavier. We pronounce it ... Not ASU. Let's put it this way. I knew Michael Bates and his older brother Marion ... and they were all fast .... like in a way that you didn't mess with it. Real Tucson kids. Never saw anyone faster than Michael ... and Mario was supposed to be good ... but I coulda told you .... Mario was a gangster! Went to ASU ... betrayed his brothers .... AND HE WAS A GANGSTER! It was no surprise that Mario didn't pan out in the NFL, got in fights with his teamates ... but Michael .... he's no Devon Hester ... but he can return a kick ... like for real! Was a good kid ... and he's like my age ... little older 38? Michael Bates ... sick fast ... far as I remember. Older brother Marion was a friend ... and we tried but ... Mario .... gangster. Went to ASU. Had friends ... bad friends ... last I heard ... someone broke his jaw. He didn't have the skills Michael did. Became real obvious once Mario entered the NFL. Too small and not fast enough. Michael was with the Panthers was it? How old was Deion Sanders when he un-retired? Tucson native ... Michael Bates .... I bet he could still return kicks in the NFL. Giants Fan 85 Posted November 4, 2007 Mario Bates did ok for ASU ... but there was no suprise he was gonna get beat up as an NFL rookie. Jeff Williams (1 arm) was not there for him anymore. Failed. Michael though .... nicest guy you'd ever meet. And REALLY fast. I'd bet Michael could still get a job as a 38 year old kick returner, or a special teams coach. I would beat most kids WITH blocks ... I raced Michael once in a meet. He wasted me. I'm fast ..... Michael Bates .... is sick fast. Could still return kicks.
