Rank the RB3/4s

Recommended Posts

I've seen a lot of talk on individual threads here and there about the value of what I see as a big logjam of RB3s and RB4s. These are the guys that appear to be on the slow/thunder/between the tackles side of their respective RBBCs. These guys seem to ride the pine, get dropped, have a good fill-in game, get added, get dropped to fill a bye. So at any given time, there seem to be a few of them out there, and I'm wondering how you rank them going forward.

My list, to start us off:

B. Jacobs - definitely the backup in his RBBC, but still somewhat productive, and TD potential.

R. Williams - he's 33, he's in what used to be a run-first offense, and can catch out of the backfield, but clearly second to what is typically thought of as a fragile Ronnie Brown.

Hightower - had a fine first quarter of the season with Wells out, still has some pass catching upside, but the offense is clearly sputtering, and Wells is taking more of the load.

T. Jones - hasn't been stellar, but was getting carries up until last week, and while Charles is (should be) the guy for the season, their schedule could make TJ relevant.

Greene - wasn't supposed to be a backup, but truly is, but could see more as the season wears on, to save some tread on LT, and to keep him motivated for the future.

J. Stewart - loads of talent, but the offense sucks, and DWill is clearly The Guy, and not the timeshare most expected

Who else?

I think I'd rank them this way (PPR, though forget dynasty/keeper implications):

Greene - I could see him getting more involved as the season wears on, and he's only an LT injury away

(and yeah, they're all an injury away, but in this case we're talking about the younger guy benefiting here)

Jacobs - Giants will continue to commit to the run, and in the winter Jacobs could benefit

TJ - I like their schedule and could see them continue to run as they can't do anything through the air

Ricky - he's still involved, and I could see a real 60/40, and he produces catches out of the backfield

JStew - on talent alone, but needs opportunities and won't get them like Ricky does

Hightower - I just can't trust the Cards, yes, I trust them less than the Chiefs
