Folks, NOW is the time to try and take out the trash, but don't just throw it away. Trade for picks!

 

For instance, somebody dumped Pattern and Scott last off-season, two players who ended up going in the third round. Surely that owner could have exacted a 2003 fifth round pick for either in trade, and have something more to work with this season.

 

Somebody dumped Quincy Carter already this off-season. As a Hutchinson owner, I would have offered up a fifth-rounder this year or next for him. It's better than nothing.

 

Two years ago, Kordell Stewart ended up in the rookie draft, where he was a steal for the 2001 season.
