Buffalo Bills Defense Stat (Fumble Recoveries)

Ok, so I have to ask. The fumble that rolls out of the end zone, does that constitute as a fumble recovery for the defense since change of possession, or is that going to not be counted for the team defense when stat corrections get accounted for. The NFL box score has the ball going through the end zone and there's little doubt about that watching the replay

ESPN has this scored as only one fumble recovery for the Bills

Yahoo! has this scored as two fumble recoveries for the Bills.

MFL also has this scored as two fumble recoveries for the Bills.


Anyone know for sure how this technically is scored? If I lose the 2 points, I'm out of the championship game.

Week 7 Colts and Broncos. Peyton hit fumbles and balls goes out of endzone for a saftey. No credit for a fumble recovery for the DEF since there was no recovery. No Fumble Lost for Peyton since a fumble was not recovered. Below is what CBS says about that play. I think it applies in you situation.

Peyton Manning fumble in Week 7 vs. the Colts

 

The fumble by Peyton Manning was NOT recovered by the Colts defense. Since the ball went out of bounds before the defensive player had possession, the play is not scored as a fumble lost by Peyton Manning.

Well..what I wonder about this is though, that was scored as a safety. This resulted in a touchback. Not sure if there is any difference though

Looking at the game logs it only looks like 1 fumble recovery is credited. The ball that was fumbled into the endzone was never recovered.

Interesting. I went to the Redskins/Packers game this season in which the same thing happened to James Jones when he lost the ball and it hit the pylon, resulting in a touchback.

Yahoo scored the play as a fumble recovery for the Redskins defense
