Guest The Unknown Soldier Posted June 20, 2001 Got caught in a mini-meeting. Was going to say, "Excuse me for one minute, I have to go pick.", but I didn't think the boss would think too highly of me if I did that...

I know....I debated, but I think Allen has the right frame of mind coming into this year and I am not sold on Skip Hicks, and the Bears are not ready to start another rookie on offense... I have my eye on others for later rounds tho... [This message has been edited by Scooby (edited 06-20-2001).]
Guest t.j Posted June 20, 2001 I considered Allen but in addition to being worried about touchdowns, I was a little worried about Anthony Thomas even though I agree with you that Skip Hicks is no concern. Guest BroncosFan Posted June 20, 2001 What do you guys think about my pick, Jimmy Smith? I know he's a major health question but if he's ready like he says he'll be, then he'll be a steal. Or did I just waste my 4th rounder?
Guest t.j Posted June 20, 2001 Major high-risk, high-reward pick. I was a little surprised, but that's about the consensus of where he goes on the cheetsheats.
Guest BroncosFan Posted June 20, 2001 in other drafts, I've seen him go much higher and also much lower. I guess at this point, its time for me to gamble. My first 3 picks have been pretty much "safe" picks with S. Davis, Watters, and Brown

If you had Terrell Davis and Duce, Smith is probably not a guy you'd want to add to that mix. I think the drafts he went much lower in were probably before his apparent improvement recently. I think this is about where he should be going until it everyone has a better idea in August of where he is at.
Guest RK Posted June 20, 2001 J. Smith was a good pick at that spot. I don't have a WR yet, and looking at the list that's left, I sure wish he was there!

Guest The Unknown Soldier Posted June 20, 2001 Yeah, BF, it all depends on what condition he's in once the season starts. I was looking at taking him, but realized that we aren't even sure what's wrong with him. I've already taken a gamble with Davis and didn't want another headache. With 2 solid rb's and 1 good wr, you can gamble to get a potential stud wr. Especially since wr's can always be found under rocks once the season starts if his condition is worse than they are letting is seem.
Guest kariya9 Posted June 20, 2001 Pittman will do very well in this league. Not too many TD's, but I recall over 1200 combined yards and nearly 70 receptions. Great pick Ulick.

Great pick Ulick. Just hope he can duplicate last year's numbers. It felt a little too much like a pure desperation pick. I had Pittman a notch lower than Favre because of the one-year contract/ Thomas Jones thing, as well as the fact that he has a week 1 bye (which is two bye weeks in this league). But I do like this pick a lot better than I would have liked taking Holmes or Garner with Horn still on board. And seeing what was left on board RB wise, the difference was a lot more drastic between Pittman and, say, Alstott or Redmond, than Favre and the rest of the QBs. Guest Smitty Posted June 20, 2001 4.11 - Elvis Grbac QB, BAL This is much earlier than I have ever taken a QB. With the high penalty for INTs, I thought it would be more prudent to take a solid QB at this point even though I think there is better value at other positions on the board. I already have depth at RB and I can get a decent WR later on. The bye week hit will be tough as well.

Guest bigbadbuff Posted June 20, 2001 ok, a 16 team league with 2 mandatory RBs every week is not too great! I refuse to take a scrub RB with any pick and since they were all gone by my 3rd pick I will have to do some trading to even field a full team. RB is the holy grail of FF; there's only a handful of guys worth having, the rest are completely average.
