Would you rather keep a potential Top 10 WR or Top 20 RB?
GiantsRule posted a topic in FFToday Board
Long time no speak folks. Still swooning from that Giants victory and haven't had much time to peruse the boards. Just wanted to get a consensus opinion on what you all would do in my situation (For the record, I've already made up my mind and I'm going with Young). While it applies directly to my circumstances, it may also be an issue for others ready to draft. I'm in a one-keeper league where you're allowed to keep one player from last year's roster provided that player was not drafted in the 1st or 2nd rounds in 2007, and wasn't previously kept by another owner in 2007. I pick 6th. We have standard scoring with bonuses for distance TDs, but no PPR. Also, we can play a 2nd QB in the flex with 6 pts for all TDs so QBs are more valuable here than in most other leagues. My roster is pretty pedestrian with only Greg Jennings, Donovan McNabb, Welker, and Young as keeper prospects. For months, I was going to keep Welker. Now, after learning who will be kept by other owners (AP, Lynch, MBIII, Turner, Grant, Fred Taylor), the remaining RBs are going to fly off the board and there's going to be tons of reaches (by proxy, LJ and Portis could be mid-1st round picks). While Welker is easily the most talented and will have a nice 100 rec/1200 yard/8 TD season, Young is more of a home run threat and obviously plays the more scarce fantasy position. Looking at draft time: Young could end up a late 2nd/early 3rd round pick while Welker could go mid-3rd/early-4th. Quite possibly, I could keep Selvin and still get Welker later than if I did the opposite. Everybody overvalues running backs, and I got stuck with Travis Henry last year trying to crack the Shanahan thought process. But if I don't take a flyer on him, I could really end up with a laughable duo of backs. My thinking is that even with Young becoming a flop, I can take 2 backs in the first 2 rounds and at least have some depth. What would you do in this spot? And for the board tattletalers and smartasses, let me save you some copy & paste trouble: Team Management Questions Belong On The "A Little Help" board. -
I'm spending a high pick next year on Peyton Manning. No way Manning lets Brady hold onto his record for long. Now that he's got his ring and his family is justified with Eli getting a ring, he'll go back to collecting passing records and "padding" his stats. Peyton - 53 TDs and 5,000+ yards passing in 2008.

Not sure why everybody b!tches about the Pro Bowl. It's been an entertaining game so far with some nice plays and decent hits. And it's high-scoring for everybody last week who complained about the "lousy football" that only generated 31 total points. I guess as a group, we have to b!tch until the very bitter end!

***Official Super Bowl Gambling Thread***

Wow! Those War of Worldcraft folks sure know how to get crazy, don't they?!? It's pretty funny. You "lost" $700. Strangely enough, if you won, the figure would have miraculously been a $7,000 score. But $700 is closer to the $70 you likely actually bet. That's the closest to honest you've been since you plagued the board with your presence. -
Congrats to GiantsRule, xenophobe, and the other Giants fans on here

Thanks for including me in the congrats, boys. Glad to see that after all the trash talking and namecalling, there's a level of respect that exists among the classy people on this board. I can honestly say that winning the Super Bowl vs. the Patriots was far more satisfying for me as a fan than if they beat anybody else. Not because I'm an open Boston sports teams/fans hater, but because the Patriots were easily the best team in the league and nobody else was close. For the Giants, who many haters called the "worst team to ever make the Super Bowl", it's a huge coup to put those comments to rest and to bring some prestige back to the NFC. Just truly amazing. Now I have to swallow my pride and do what I said I would had the Giants won: purchase and wear an Eli Manning jersey! You go Lil' Goober! You go! -
It's going to be crazy here in Boston on Tuesday with the parade going on... Oh...right!!!!

Question to non-Patriots fans and Giants fans
GiantsRule replied to redtodd's topic in FFToday Board
I enjoyed this game even when the score was stuck at 7-3 (Pats) through 3 quarters. I enjoyed a defense finally stopping Brady and was amazed that the Giants were driving up and down the field easily with nothing to show for it. Just because there was no scoring, doesn't mean it wasn't a great game. -
First championship I celebrated since 1986. I completely forgot how it feels!

What the fvck are you talking about? You're just making yourself sound like more of an ass with each additional post. Cut your losses now.

Did you? Did you all realize that at exactly the same time? Were you all giving yourself virtual high fives and giving virtual kisses to your virtual girlfriends too? Here's a tip: Start signed your posts "douche" instead of "MB"

Giants have to win first! SHHHHHHHHHH....

You people do know that football consists of both offense and defense, right?

Jesus, Fox is really raking in the ad revenue tonight!

Look, signature boy, I never said anything about my team winnng or scoring points. But saying this is an awful game just because there's great defense and little scoring is retarded. Yours truly Sincerely yours, -GR

I really think some of you should only play fantasy football and never watch a second of real life football ever again. Pathetic how you can whine and complain about a strongly contested game with great defense because "the players aren't putting up the big stats! WAH! WAHHHHHHHH!"
