Billy Volek Award nominees (for playoff studs)
seattleslew replied to zftcg's topic in FFToday Board
Terrific award name. Remember the Volek year well, was a ton of fun blindsiding better teams as he ripped thru first two rounds, unfortunately I stayed with him in the championship game @ good Denver D in low temp. Wahh wahh. Have had Volek visions watching Tennessee past few weeks, although Tannehill already has a longer streak going.... have to decide if it continues or if I go with Kyler. -
Why Zeke Should be Drafted Middle First Round
seattleslew replied to SMath3333's topic in FFToday Board
Just that you should mathematically validate both decisions individually. Would you draft McFadden there independent of having Zeke? If the answer is no you are taking two bets and parlaying them at higher juice. -

There is no math that can support the logic of a "handcuff" ..... you can make an argument based on the emotion of it feeling safer, but mathematically drafting Ezekial and drafting McFadden are two separate problems. -
Here is a Reality Check for the Doug Martin Lovers

Fantasy props are low limit entertainment wagers. Like a bonus promotion. Even if a sportsbook takes a loss on them overall, it doesn't really hurt them, and will lead to new customers betting sports and casino. Plus they don't have to be very sharp to make money on a 15 cent lineā¦. just have some kid hang the yahoo predictions as over/unders and put -115 on both sides and you're likely going to win. -
Peyton Manning is the greatest QB of all time
seattleslew replied to Bobbyn2022's topic in FFToday Board
That year was a good indication of how random NFL playoffs have become (if we don't need fantasy football to know that). Manning's best postseasons statistically didn't lead to a championship, but one of his worst did. Besides the Pats game which WAS the 2007 Super Bowl IMO. Let's also not forget the best team by a mile that year was sitting at home at that point because of Marty ball (Chargers). -

Agreed they were different in early and later parts of the decade, naturally. But the market allowed them to keep a lot more pieces from year to year, and remain competitive (49ers also went to two more NFC championships that decade). Today in a QB league you pay Flacco 120 million after he wins a title and gut the entire franchise. Much harder to win multiple titles. -

Amazing Peyton has won anything with head coaching like this. Next play after this time management gem by Caldwell, Jets complete a long pass for an easy game winning FG to eliminate Colts. -

True but I think winning championships has gotten more random (talent margin between teams smaller in playoffs, thus more of a crapshoot) -

NFL was a different league when Montana won 4 Super Bowls. Teams much easier to hold together for a longer period of time. If Manning wins a SB with Denver he will have gotten there with head coaches Dungy, Caldwell, and Fox. Not exactly Bill Walsh. I am not a guy who considers # of championships most important, but two SB on diff teams with those coaches would have to put him in the "greatest of all time" conversation -
Regular Season: 1. Kicker points 2. Most combined starter TD's 3. Bench Points 4. Home Team Playoffs: 1. Better seed

Haven't seen a lot of Steven Jackson paranoia
seattleslew replied to seattleslew's topic in FFToday Board
Are you guys joking around about getting him late-2nd and 3rd? I'm looking at him at 1.09 in 12 team standard, and feel that's OK value. -
I don't see a lot of Steven Jackson discussion; positive or negative. I guess it can't get any worse than last year, at least in the touchdown department. Anyone confident on a big year?

Do commissioners have a bigger advantage over the rest of the league?
seattleslew replied to dollaMite's topic in FFToday Board
I am a commissioner that created a 12-team league several years ago. I set up the league with people I know, the same 7-8 owners have been there the whole time, but as other owners have come and gone I plug in friends or co-workers. The only "advantage" I have found is knowing everyone in the league well. This helps in my own trade situations, and as some people have pointed out people come to me asking "what I think" since I am familiar with the other person, almost like a mediator. I am usually impartial, but naturally there are times I nudge an owner in a direction that I think helps me. -
They aren't benching Manning unless way ahead after he's thrown for 2 or 3 TD's already.
