W/R position woes

Recommended Posts

Few iffy picks going into wk 3

Starting T. Holt and S. Moss @ WR

Starting W. Dunn and T. Jones @ RB

Caddilac @ W/R

M. Colston @ TE

My current bench pool is S. Smith and D. Branch for WR's, J. Shockley for TE

Delhomme is sitting the bench, but I can't really see using him over Carson Palmer

I guess I'm not 100% convinced I have the right balance here...Holt's a lock v. Ari, Moss has a pretty good shot of finally breaking out vs a horrible Hou secondary (hell, entire defense) although Brunell isn't exactly Mr Wonderful so far this year. Dunn is pretty much a lock based both on his performace so far this year (great options with Vick playing like he has) and on N.O.'s Def...T. Jones and C. Williams on the other hand haven't been all that great so far (Jones passable, Williams dissapointing) but, I have to play one of them regardless and neither one is facing a compellingly poor Defense for me to give either a big edge. Colston (eligable as WR or TE in my league) is maybe a little Hypeish right now, but deffinately a player worth watching imo, not necissarily worth a WR spot, but as a TE he seems like a potentially high fantasy value player all things considered, although N.O. has a fairly rough schedule ahead of them. For this week though, I just don't see Shockley vs Sea being better than Colston vs Atl - worst case I see them putting up similar #'s this week

My Benchies...Shockley is typically a first Tier TE (great week 1, not so much week 2) but he's nursing that ankle and Sea has a pretty solid D...Branch - first week on the field with Sea, not starting, but Burlesson has been pretty crappy...Smith...F'n Hamstring...I'm really not sure what to do with him, is he starting? Is he sitting? Will his production be worth anything his first week back even if he does play?

So, I guess my questions would be:

1) Colston > Shockley @ TE this week?

2) Branch or Smith worth rotating into the W/R...and if so, which RB rides the pine? Jones or Caddilac?

I like the looks of your line up - same thought process I went through before dumping branch and holding smith - I would wait to see Smith actually play first before putting him on my roster - good luck this week

I really wanna play Smith (I've been sitting on him for 2 weeks FFS) but last word is he will be a "game time decision" tomorrow...and with a 2 hr before game time roster-change cutoff I'm not sure if he's worth the gamble over what I have posted up there right now

Hmm well u do have a few gray areas in ur lineup.

To answer the TE question i think ur better off going with colston because 1. u know he will play, and has been hot lately. 2. Shockey has yet to do anything this year and he wasn't having ankle promblems like he is now, and still was unable to produce(mainly becasue Eli has throwen the ball elsewhere). It is still a little iffy though bc Atlanta is a tough defense and I'm not sold on a young player because of 2 good weeks.

As for the wideout problem, If Smith starts make sure his ass is in the lineup. he is sure to get the ball throwen his way and he was the key to Carolinas offense last year. I think Branch may get some looks because of the huge contract they signed him to but he's new to Seattle, won't start and will get far less oppurtunity than Smith. Even though Smith has some risk invovled his potential rewards make him a must play

I think Smith will play. If he does, make only that change. The rest of your lineup looks good.

Smith for Cadillac, or do a 3 way and go Smith -> W/R, Williams -> RB2, Jones -> BN

I'd stick with your line-up. SS has two bad hammy's, IF he plays he will be limited, and has a strong chance of pulling himself out when something doesn't feel right.

Branch is an injury waiting to happen, and has to work his way into the offense/rotation.

Shockey is hurt . . . and innefective . . . again.

Thanks FAM

I'd go with colston because he's been "hot" lately and Brees looks for him a lot and I think he's gotten more looks than anyone else on the Saints receiving core. Keep your roster the same and if tomorrow morning Smith says he's ready to play, then start him if you can make the switch.

If Smith plays then I'd put him in your flex spot. Dinged up or not, they have to throw to him by default. No one else stepped up for them when he was on the bench. I know you're disappointed in Caddy so far but I have a strong feeling that Gruden's head will be removed from his arse this week and they should be pounding Caddy all day. Problems with his back are highly exaggerated. I'd personally give him the start over Thomas Jones this week.
