Beef Ravioli 0 Posted October 12, 2006 My team QB - Bulger/Pennington RB - Rudi/Gore/Maroney/Jordan WR - Bernard Berrian/Driver/Anquan/Doug Gabriel/A Bryant TE - LJ Smith I will probably not play Lamont anymore this year. LJ Smith still has a bye to come and there are presently no good TE's on waivers, while there are some decent RB's that I could use in a pinch. Here's the question, I would like to get Antonio Gates from this guy that is terrible at RB, but feel it will probably take Lamont and LJ together. I know it is a lot, but considering my team and Rivers seeming to be getting more confidence, would it be worth it if I can get Gates? Thanks for your help! nosferatu9368 0 Posted October 12, 2006 I'd do this one quickly. Gates already had his bye week. He is a huge upgrade over LJ (look at the playoff schedule) I also have Jordan and he is worthless. Peace Good Luck Please answer mine...
redshirtrookie 0 Posted October 12, 2006 stick with LJ. gates is a beast of a TE but until marty ball stops you shouldnt even consider it. last week was a good showing against the steelers, but smith is comparable to gates. youre giving up too much thinkin gates will produce. at the end of the year LJ wont be far behind Gates in terms of production. lv_2_hack 0 Posted October 12, 2006 Rivers has been looking good but Smith has been good this whole year. I dont' really think you need to make this trade. I mean Jordan isn't quite worthless. I think Gates isn't just a huge upgrade over LJ when McNabb is slinging the ball all over the field. kbtegp 0 Posted October 12, 2006 I think it solves an issue and doesnt cost you much. I'd probably pull the trigger, but I'd try just Jordan straight up first.
The Hunter 0 Posted October 12, 2006 i'd stand pat. http://www.fftodayforums.com/forum/index.p...howtopic=243370
mydogviolet 0 Posted October 12, 2006 no, I'd stay still were you are the way McNabb is playing LJ Smith is always capable of putting up big numbers http://www.fftodayforums.com/forum/index.p...howtopic=243375
senar 0 Posted October 12, 2006 LJ Smith isn't that bad of a TE. But since Jordan is worthless this year, I would only do it if you get a somewhat decent RB in return along with Gates
daverigs 0 Posted October 12, 2006 I wouldn't have a problem if it was LJ & Jordan for Gates. But I agree with a previous post - try to get another RB in return, even if he is a 2nd tier guy. Jordan's value should improve once Brooks gets back, so it's not worth giving him away. Gates is great, to be sure, but TE's typically provide significantly less points than RB or WR in most leagues. Thanks for answering mine.
luemewinks 0 Posted October 12, 2006 no way. stick where you're at. LJ is going to get his touches and Gates hasn't been putting up monster numbers cause defenses are staying pat on him. you don't want to give up two starts just for gates. http://www.fftodayforums.com/forum/index.p...howtopic=243391
hawkvike 0 Posted October 12, 2006 Either you have to get a RB back from him or trade just for Jordan. If he is desperate for a RB, he will make the trade straight up. Thanks for your help.
ChickenLittle 0 Posted October 12, 2006 I'd never do 2 players for a TE ... If you look at my post you'll see I'm in the reverse situation. I like L.J. a lot and think that as long as the Eagles keep spreading the ball around he'll have more good games than Gates long term. If you can make the deal for one of the two go for it ... but don't trade 2 guys away
tpn01 0 Posted October 13, 2006 I'd hold off. Try to get another player in the deal. Gates is good but still a TE.
