Trade evalutions

Recommended Posts

I am currently 4-4 in a 10 man league. I am in 5th and the top 4 make the playoffs.

We start 1 QB, 2 RBs, 3 WRs, TE , K , Def, IDP

This is my current team:

QB

Kitna

Favre

RB

Alexander

Gore

T. Jones

Lundy

WR

S Smith

Roy Williams

J. Walker

L Evans

A Bryant

TE

Colston

Def

SD

NE

K - Wilkins

I took the following trades:

1) A. Green for J. Walker

2) A. Boldin for T. Jones

Am I considerably better off after the deals? How likely to do the playoffs look now?

I think you got better. I really believe Green is a solid RB compared to Jones and I also like Boldin better then Walker. You never know what Plummer is going to do. Leinhart is at least consistant. Good luck with getting the play-offs, I think these moves will help.

Thanks for mine.

Honestly, I think the trades you made were kind of irrelevant. At the WR spot, you're always gonna start Williams and Smith(although he has a bye this week). Javon Walker and Boldin are pretty similar in that you never know what you're gonna get out of them as the Denver O has been pretty bad ouside of last week's explosion and the Arizona O has a rookie QB at the helm. I would have held onto Boldin for the 3rd WR spot, but again...its not an obvious call as Boldin's last two games have been pretty disappointing.

Ultimately, it's all going to depend on how Alexander performs coming off his injury. If he does well and becomes an automatic starter than you have more than enough depth at RB that you should be alright. All in all, the trades certainly don't hurt you....I'm just not sure they helped you either.

As for making the playoffs, I would have to see the rosters of other people in the league. That said, I think you're strong at the Defensive position, Colston is obviously a monster at TE (I have him there also), and Kitna has been a top QB fantasy points-wise thus far. If that keeps up, I like your chances to put up good, not great, numbers for the remainder of the season.

The trades you pulled off were ok, almost a wash. I do like Boldin better than Walker, however I like T. Jones better than Green.

Alot will depend on SA, if he comes back and performs you have a great chance at making the playoffs.

Can't believe you can use Colston as a TE, thats great.

Overall your team is solid, also it all depends on match ups and a little thing called luck.

i think you did all right. green is playing well but gb's schedule gets toughter over the next few weeks.

when you do make the playoffs, green will have more value as jones will sit more to rest for the playoffs.

thanks for mine.

I think you ended up much better - especially after adding Anquan to your already loaded WR position. Nice moves.

I think that you got better at both positions. I like Green a lot. He has been doing very well and his playoff schedule is not too bad. Jones is ok, but Benson lurking for carries gets me worried. Boldin will get a lot more opportunities than Walker just due to thier situations.

here is mine. http://www.fftodayforums.com/forum/index.p...howtopic=250258

thanks

I think you did well. Id be concerned about Boldin @ the two spot but with Smith and Williams hes a good #3. If Alexander gets back soon and can produce at a level even close to his normal self than Id say your a lock. Colston @ TE is priceless.

I think that since you have to start 3 WR and only 2 RB there is no way you lost on the deal gaining Boldin. I think Green and Jones are about a wash, but I would slightly favor Green as I think Chi will try and see what they have in Benson sometime in the 2nd half, which will cut into Jones carries

Am I considerably better off after the deals? How likely to do the playoffs look now?

Lets do this one at a time:

1) A Green for J Walker

looking at your team, Between Gore, T Jones, and Lundy, I can t see green starting any games other than the occasional game where you use him for the matchup or to cover a bye week.

J Walker is a starter.

I'd rather have a starter than a backup. so I do not think this deal has helped you.

2) Boldin for T Jones. Jones is clearly a #2 RB and Boldin is a #1 WR. Not a top end #1, but he is a #1 guy nonetheless. RB's are considered more valueable than WR's in general, and Boldin has a rookie QB who kinda hurts his value a bit (due to inconsistancy) so I consider this trade to be an even up fair trade that doesnt help or hurt your team (unless trade #1 has already been made. If this is the case, you need this deal)

however, looking at both deals combined, I'd rather have Tommy Jones and J Walker than Boldin and A. Green.

hate to say it, but the deal that makes the most sense for you is the one you probably dont wanna make.

as far as the playoffs go, you are on the outside looking in. I would normally never recommend dealing a stud player, but Alexander is hurt, and will miss at least 1 and possibly 2 more games. when he returns, he will not be in game shape, and I expect at least one or two weeks to get fully up to speed.

I'd recommend you trade him to get a couple of players that will get you into the playoffs.

He is not an asset to you while he is injured, and if you think you have a shot at winning this year, I think you need to take your shot. If you wait for him to get well, you may miss the playoffs because of it.

This is especially the case if this is a redraft league.
