Two Sit/Start Decisions

Recommended Posts

I'm in 3 leagues, and all my sit/start decisions seem to be pretty tough this week. I also don't really agree with the rankings the site has put out, so I guess this thread could provide some 2nd opinions on them as well. So anyways, leave a link and I'll reply to yours. Thoughtful replies in this thread will yield more thoughtful replies in your thread.

Next to each team they've played, I've listed the match up ranking. So something like Hou(1) means that Houston gives up the most fantasy points to the position in question.

Scoring System: 1 point per reception, -2 points per fumble/interception, 1 point per 10 yards receiving/rushing, 1 point per 25 yards passing

Decision #1

Schaub vs. Oak(23) or Orton vs. Dal(13)

So far I'm leaning towards Orton, even though Schaub has performed so well. Dallas is by far the superior matchup, and they're an easier match up than even their number suggests IMO. Dallas has faced Delhomme, Leftwhich, and Eli Manning. Not exactly a murderer's row of QB's, yet each QB still put up 10 or more fantasy points in the games they played.

Schaub obviously has more talent, but Oakland's offense is terrible and they're soft against the run. I don't forsee this becoming a shootout, and just like Denver last week, an early lead could mean a lot of Slaton, cutting into Schaub's numbers. They held Phillip Rivers to 252yds/1TD/1Int in week 1.

So while I think its close, I'll probably be rolling with Orton, who seems like a lock for ~250 yards and a TD. Just don't understand how FF today has Schaub ranked so much higher.

Decision #2

Pick 1 RB: Buckhalter vs. Dal(19), P. Thomas vs. NYJ(29), T. Jones @NO(26), A. Bradshaw @KC(7)

Lots of choices, none of them good. PT & T. Jones have brutal match ups, but they're a lock for 15+ touches. Bradshaw is injured, is likely to get at least 10 touches if he's healthy, and his match up is pretty awesome. Buckhalter seems like the worst option but I'm open to opinions.

I'm leaning towards Bradshaw if he goes, but FFToday has him ranked below both Buckhalter and PT. I'm also starting Ray Rice, which I think is a no brainer start @NE(18th) which gives up a ton of receptions to RB's. However Rice is ranked lower than all of these backs except T. Jones.

If Bradshaw doesn't play, I'll probably put in Pierre, and just hope his offense can get him near the end zone a few times or get an early lead. But I'm really open to suggestions on this one.

Thanks in advance.

A lot of background information. My suggestion is to go w/ the guy who will give you the best chance for points (TDs) and IMO that would be Schaub. You make a great case for Orton, but their 2-headed RB monster is clearly playing a larger role from week to week. Regardless of Oakland's pass-D, I think Schaub's the guy in this play.

Regarding your RB situation, I'm also in a PT debate, and if I should go w/ him, or Ray Rice, or Leon Washington, and will probably lean to PT (over a Magahee vulture or TJones share), even against a tough Jet D, as he'll (most likely) get the bulk of opportunities without Mike Bell stealing anything away. With that being said, I'd go w/ PT.

Good luck.

Schaub at QB for starters. Dallas does not have a particularly tough pass D, but Orton is... well, Orton. At worst, Schaub gives you about the same as Orton, but with chance for more.

As for RB, go with PT. Bradshaw has the best matchup, but he rarely scores TDs (saying that as a NYG fan). I am not buying the Jets as the new Ravens. Chris Johnson got 97 yds against them last week.

I'll agree with you here on Orton...Dallas D is week vs WR.....yeah Schaub can get you more...maybe, bur OAK is good vs the pass & I think this game goes to the ground.

I too am not sold on the Jets run D.....the Pat's avg 4.2 ypc & CJ almost went for 100....I'd go PT.

Thnx for Mine
