  1. I actually don't care about any uneducated people who don't offer anything good to this American society. Yourself included.

  5. Weekend update: 3 out of 5 photon torpedo sessions done, so far so good. I'm maybe a little tired, but it's hard to tell. I'm also fighting cancer and it's been over 100 degrees here. Like last time, the radiation techs love my music choice of 90s Alt Rock. Yesterday I had a new tech, maybe 40, but clearly a fan. He asked who my favorite group of that era was, and I said I had to go with Tool. He's also a big fan; he told me about Tool prepping for a run at the Sphere, and I told him that one of those "candlelight concert" string quartets is doing a Tool show at the Phx Art Museum in June (these are really cool btw; I've seen the Beatles and Queen). Anyway, they strapped me in and the music started; some song but he changed it to Tool Schism. It's great musically, but it didn't occur to me until afterwards that the lyrics were eerily appropriate. It's about a relationship gone bad, but if you think of cancer as a cruel mistress (as I have been recently, for a short memoir I'm thinking of writing), it kinda fits, especially the destructive imagery for both cancer and radiation (smoldering, disintegrating, burned a hole). Anyway, I'm doing fine. My wife is out of town at a niece's bridal shower, but my daughter came over last night to keep me company. We watched Weapons (meh...), ate sushi, and she helped me care for our sick cat. He seems somewhat better this morning, so hopefully he has turned a corner. I'm going to pop over to the gym and make an appearance for my friends there, but I'll just walk/jog the treadmill vs. taking a HIIT class. Otherwise it's mostly butt on couch for one of my favorite weekends of the year sports wise.

  7. So if we took away the guy who got shot because he thought it was a good idea to bring a gun to a riot, and only had the purple haired girl who tried to kill the ICE agent with her car, ICE's +/- is looking pretty good at the moment. You would never know that if you listened to the Chicken Littles, or Chicken Libtards as I like to call them, who act like ICE is out there killing people everywhere. To all you ICE agents out there doing your job, protecting our nation and its laws....thank you! Most America loving, normal people appreciate your sacrifices.

  8. Many conservatives won’t even reply here anymore. It’s too embarrassing of a failure. Iran has taken 13 US military bases out of commission in addition to the strait. No wonder the “we already won” folks are silent. F this war; it never should have been started. And look, while we’re distracting Iran, Israel is invading and taking over territory from Lebanon. Bibi and Putin run our country through the orange muppet. And now we see the outcome many of us warned everybody about.

  10. Good morning. As I read the analysts this morning they’re basically split into two opposing opinions, mirroring support of the Trump Administration and opposition to it: 1. The blockade is working. Iran’s economy is crumbling. Very shortly Iran will be forced to give into our demands, mainly that they turn over all of their enriched uranium and open up the Strait of Hormuz. Either that or their regime will collapse from its economic catastrophe. We just need to be patient a little longer. 2. The blockade is not working. It’s hurting Iran but they can survive for years. They’re not going to budge on the central points of their negotiating. In the end we will have to either bribe them to open up Hormuz (by releasing sanctions) and promise not to enrich uranium for a short period (similar to the Obama deal) or we’re going to have to invade. With regard to #2, an analyst from the New York Times noted that even if we get Iran to agree to leave Hormuz alone the discovery from this war that they can close it at any time in the future through the simple use of drones has turned them into a 4th world power, and we can only reverse that through invasion. While I hope for #1, I think #2 is far more realistic. What I think will happen is that pretty shortly Trump will do a deal along the lines of #2 and attempt to sell it as #1

  11. Those Kettle chips are a bit thicker and really crispy compared to traditional chips. I think if you got some good old fashioned sea salt flavor chips and splashed them with a thickened au jus, they would retain the crispiness and the salt mixed with the au jus flavor would be a great combo - salt mixed with the savory flavory with a bit of crispiness to it. It would have to be a good, rich, thickened au jus sauce though. Not that roast beef water people seem to like for some reason. So two ideas: Au jus is too thin. In general, it would be better if it had more thickness to it even if it was just mixed with a bit of corn starch, but mixing with a roux would be much better. You want kind of a mild burnt end taste. Kettle chips with a bit of this thickened au jus would be a nice bar dish.

  15. It’s incredible. Iowa is something like mid 90s to high 90% white. Every problem we have is either the Black people who stayed in the hell whole parts of town and create problems. Or the ones that get into government assistant housing out in the suburbs and just cause the same problems out in the suburbs. Every time

  16. A thread about Swalwell and all I see is a wall of simps defending the pedophile president. No criminal case against Swalwell (yet?), just accusations. But he’s out because his party doesn’t stand for such things. Meanwhile, the guy who is in the Epstein files over 1 million times is embraced by the party and running the country into the ground. Nobody that supports Trump can ever make a moral argument again. They’ve proven that credible accusations of child rape aren’t enough to turn them off from a politician (or judge: see also: Kavanaugh)

  17. In six weeks without the use of ground troops, and with both the US military and to Iran's civilian infrastructure experiencing minimal damage, the US shut down the world's biggest source of terrorism, destroyed their military capabilities, their proxies, and the economy that drives all those evil those things. That's what happened and you poster on the left, other than Caine Mutiny Tim whose take was always halfway decent, were spending the whole time absorbing corporate media lies and Iranian propaganda in your left wing silos. As always. President Trump has accomplished a great victory for peace and human civilization, on the cheap, and you guys just can't handle seeing him succeed or giving him credit for anything. Tim, again, excluded. This could not have gone any better. Maybe a little bit of gratitude and a partial opening towards awareness of reality 'my bad' is in order. Because you guys, who were wrong at every step, look really really, really clueless and stupid right now.

  23. Trump: 1. We can open up Hormuz at any time, not a problem. 2. NATO is going to help us open Hormuz. 3. We don’t need to open up Hormuz. 4. Hormuz is open; the oil tankers just need to show some guts and go through. 5. Iran sent me a beautiful gift by opening Hormuz. 6. If Iran doesn’t open up Hormuz I will seize Kharg Island. 7. If Iran doesn’t open up Hormuz I will destroy Iranian civilization. 8. Hormuz is meaningless to us; it’s up to other nations to open it up. 9. Iran has surrendered and agreed to open up Hormuz; the war is over and we won. 10. The USA and Iran could split the tolls for Hormuz between us 50/50. 11. We are going to blockade Hormuz. What amazes me is that some of you continue to believe this guy is competent and knows what he’s doing.

  24. They were in compliance until Trump ripped up the agreement. It’s so hilarious to see this kind of smug response from somebody who is clearly totally ignorant of how the JCPOA worked. I recall a similarly smug and totally incorrect response about the numbers of people killed in Gaza, even though I showed the numbers given by the IDF.

  28. In terms of not committing violent crimes? They certainly are. No matter how many times you and the rest bring up these awful anecdotes it doesn’t change the facts. You don’t punish millions of people for the terrible acts of a few. It’s immoral. It’s wrong. And a majority of Americans finally seem to understand that. After January ICE will be completely reformed. They will go after the sort of violent criminals who commit these crimes, and they will leave the rest of the undocumented community alone until Congress can figure out some sort of amnesty for them. And they will.

  36. What the fock are we doing over there in Iran? This is not going to accomplish any type of political strategy or accomplishment. Just killing them and destroying things in Iran isn't accomplishing anything long term. Pointless and just making us a bigger target in the future by this aggression. And we are wasting our expensive weapons and lives.

  38. I doubt any Trumper or even Dems knows why Obama paid that money, but I'll inform... In the 70's under the Shah regime, Iran paid a half billion dollars for US military equipment - but the revolution occurred and the US never supplied the equipment or returned the money. The payment was a return of principle plus interest to settle a legal dispute by Iran being held at the International Court of Justice in Hague. Obama argued the settlement was likely considerably less than the Court would've ruled. Also, it was $1.7 billion. The rest (estimated $50 to $150 billion) was linked to frozen Iran assets around the world that were released after Iran agreed to comply with nuclear restrictions.

  39. To the posters who interact with MAGA trolls in earnest: kudos for your intelligent thoughts and patience. It is a tip that they are gaslighting you with their responses. You will form a well thought out post, backed up with evidence and actual history. They will in turn unironically post some dumb comeback like “you think we don’t have any leverage?”, having done no research of their own, and they bait you into a time-suck argument that they have no intention of carrying out in good faith. I’m sure you’re aware of this, but I would never waste my time actually making points to cult member traitors who support Donald Trump over their country. Not even a second of my effort.

  40. Maybe you aren’t aware of the Trojan horse that this is. I’d call this crisis averted. The age verification laws making their way through state legislatures are a massive privacy violation. In addition, the Minnesota law ends up blocking more than pornography. Because of that, it appears to violate the first amendment in multiple ways. Funny to see so much support for this law among conservatives. I could have sworn you were all blaming the parents for addictive social media algorithms in another thread instead of wanting to hold Meta and Google accountable. Whatever happened to your belief that the PARENTS should be policing what their kids see on the internet? I guess kids seeing boobs is more worrisome to some people than Meta and Google’s addictive content that could lead to suicide.

  45. First off as always best of luck of you. Second, it’s frustrating that you and many others don’t seem to understand, or simply don’t want to acknowledge, that there ISN’T more than one side of Donald Trump. This is who the man is. His position here is the same one that informs all of his actions that you support.
