Political violence in this country comes mostly from the right wing, about 75-80% of the time in the 21st century. Here are the statistics to back this up: https://www.pbs.org/newshour/amp/politics/right-wing-extremist-violence-is-more-frequent-and-deadly-than-left-wing-violence-data-shows Sorry that most of you are wrong on this subject, again, but the facts don’t lie. Cole Allen’s idiotic attempt this weekend was part of the 20% minority of political violence from the left.6 points

So let’s get into a deeper dive here as to why conservatives are so pissed at the SPLC. It ain’t because of the KKK stuff or even Charlottesville- most conservatives aren’t bigoted against black people (sorry @RaiderHaters Revenge you’re in the minority among your buddies on this one.) I think it’s for two other reasons: 1. In recent years whenever conservatives look for supposed statistics to back up their anti-undocumented immigrant agenda, they usually get them from two sources: The Federation for Immigration Reform (FAIR) and the Center for Immigration Studies. Unfortunately both of these organizations, despite their innocuous sounding names, are bigoted white-supremacist groups who spread false information which is easily disproven. And here is the root of the issue: most conservatives don’t want to admit, even to themselves that their agenda against what they call “illegal immigrants” is in fact a racist agenda. Even though it’s so completely obvious to the rest of us. So it’s easier for them to attack the messenger, in this case the SPLC. 2. Similarly to the undocumented immigrant issue, conservatives don’t want to accept the undeniable truth that their anti-gay and trans agenda is also rooted in ugly, ignorant bigotry. So once again they resent anyone who claims with authority to expose this fact: in this case the SPLC. In a larger sense this is what the fight against “woke” is all about: a denial by conservatives that their motives in these issues is base and ugly.6 points

She is not part of the elite. No rich and famous family, or big money, or Ivy League connections. We could really use more politicians who have actually worked for a living. But here’s the big one; she’s more interested in policy goals than personal ambition. Here’s her response to being asked about a Senate or Presidential run. Whether you agree or disagree with her goals, it’s refreshing to have somebody who is interested in outcomes. Not just trying to lock down their seat and all the perks that go along with it for 50 years.5 points

Not by removing its Sanctuary City status or any of the woke things that make the city by the bay so great. By investing in drone technology and facial recognition. These options were opposed by leftists for years but not by moderate, pro-business and safety Democrats like Lurie. This is the answer. Other big cities run by Democrats should take note. We can fight crime without resorting to MAGA bigotry.5 points

Here’s the main point: there are NO studies which show that political violence comes primarily from the left. None. Every study shows the exact opposite. The claim, made here and elsewhere, that political violence is mostly a liberal thing is total bullsh!t and a reversal of the truth: political violence in this country is mostly a conservative thing.5 points

Actually, on the internet it is a passive aggressive way of stating a position often used by those without the integrity to stand behind their position. It is used by those who think they are cute and smarter than others as they have reserved their "out", their claim to some sort of bogus neutrality. But sure, go ahead and hide behind this now tired and threadbare ruse nobody buys.5 points

It may have been political. It may have been a liberal. I’m just sick of folks who blame ALL liberals, or all conservatives, or all anything. I’m sick of this bigoted blame the group bullsh!t. It’s so focking annoying. Anyone who does it is an a$$hole. Sorry but you are.5 points

What MAGA rally-goers should understand about this is that most actual people in real life look at MAGA enthusiasts like they are fools, which they have proven to be over and over again. For the Mar-a-Lago MAGAs, it’s understandable in their case to support Trump. They’re getting crazy rich from insider information. Rally-goers though? Trump could care less about them. Even at the rallys themselves, he’d bus them in and make them walk back to their cars through mud. It’s embarrassing and dangerous to believe in a cult leader. Over your actual country no less. This has proven itself true enough times already, that now only the 32% diehards are left. You got played by a con man.5 points

Good morning. As I read the analysts this morning they’re basically split into two opposing opinions, mirroring support of the Trump Administration and opposition to it: 1. The blockade is working. Iran’s economy is crumbling. Very shortly Iran will be forced to give into our demands, mainly that they turn over all of their enriched uranium and open up the Strait of Hormuz. Either that or their regime will collapse from its economic catastrophe. We just need to be patient a little longer. 2. The blockade is not working. It’s hurting Iran but they can survive for years. They’re not going to budge on the central points of their negotiating. In the end we will have to either bribe them to open up Hormuz (by releasing sanctions) and promise not to enrich uranium for a short period (similar to the Obama deal) or we’re going to have to invade. With regard to #2, an analyst from the New York Times noted that even if we get Iran to agree to leave Hormuz alone the discovery from this war that they can close it at any time in the future through the simple use of drones has turned them into a 4th world power, and we can only reverse that through invasion. While I hope for #1, I think #2 is far more realistic. What I think will happen is that pretty shortly Trump will do a deal along the lines of #2 and attempt to sell it as #15 points

Those Kettle chips are a bit thicker and really crispy compared to traditional chips. I think if you got some good old fashioned sea salt flavor chips and splashed them with a thickened au jus, they would retain the crispiness and the salt mixed with the au jus flavor would be a great combo - salt mixed with the savory flavory with a bit of crispiness to it. It would have to be a good, rich, thickened au jus sauce though. Not that roast beef water people seem to like for some reason. So two ideas: Au jus is too thin. In general, it would be better if it had more thickness to it even if it was just mixed with a bit of corn starch, but mixing with a roux would be much better. You want kind of a mild burnt end taste. Kettle chips with a bit of this thickened au jus would be a nice bar dish.5 points

If you want to compare this presidential term to any other president, the job growth is terrible. In Trump II we have seen job growth average 30k jobs per month. We haven't seen growth this bad since W. For context, under Biden we had 336k jobs created per month, 10 times of what we see now. I know what you're going to say, covid recovery right? In 2024 we still had 186k jobs created per month, then in 2025 we went all the way down to 9k jobs created per month. So far in 2026 we're moving up towards 100k, still below 2024, not what anyone would consider "great".4 points

All the old timers that actually remember what racism was like are dying off and have been replaced with radical freaks. Since they haven't had any actual racism to fight in 50 years (meaning racism that hasn't originated from the left), they've spent the time since then tagging everything as racist and promoting racial disharmony to justify their existence. Granted, it seems like a bridge to far to think that they would go out to prop up some fragile enemy mannequins left over from back in the day to keep the cash flowing in, Jussie Smollett style, but who knows what they're capable of. We'll see what evidence the FBI puts forward. As Patel explains it, the evidence is widespread.4 points

I still see no reason not to have a separate politics board. Even if, let’s say old posters don’t return to the geek club and traffic slows to a crawl… that just means more people here love to talk politics and they will likely still be visiting the board for the politics forum. all of the reasoning against it or for why it isn’t needed, which is coming from a handful of posters I suspected it would come from, doesn’t really explain why a separate forum is a bad idea. Apparently it’s going to lead to a ban on politics in general… I don’t see why. I think that’s been proposed before and nothing came of it.4 points

Summer is what it is. Some states have warmer weather earlier in the year and for longer.....or milder springs....some states have colder weather for a more extended period of time so for example- Florida's average spring temperature is 70...in Maine it is like 46. It's still "spring" but the temperature and climate are different. But it isn't summer. And again- you were the one whining last week that 'Your answer was wrong. When someone tells you that just own it, don't cry about it. ' And yet since Hauck called you on your mistake you've now typed 14 posts out to try and win the argument. I'm sure lots of "life winners" have to insist they win an argument that summer is in April. I mean- you really are a mental midget4 points

I guess we'll have to disagree, I don't find him inept and incompetent at all and I further don't know why you jumped to that conclusion. Everything is the oppposite, Its been a masterclass of negotiation, of threats and reprieves, he's shown and done has its own logic and consistency to it. Frankly, he's been more patient and sympathetic to the Iranians than I'd have expected. We're in a good spot. Maybe. It looked to me like we had an agreement in place. The Iranian source for that was a fellow named Abbas Araghchi, who is, or claims to be, Iran's foreign minister. The deal seemed to be in place. The excuse for rescinding it was the US hadn't ended their naval blockade. I interpret this as a reasonably fair-enough excuse on Iran's part to re-shut the Strait, such that my BS detector can't read the tea leaves on it. It may or may not be that AA has the authority to agree to a deal if a deal is signed. I don't know if he does, but based on how it went down a few days ago, I think its reasonable to give the guy another chance: this time actually signing the deal, see if the US does indeed lift the blockade, and then if Iran fires on ships anyways. Trump is making reasonable demands and he's had such a light touch on the civilian infrastructure along the way. Anyone in Iran that cares what happens the day after the war ends would jump on the offer it seems to me. But you have to threaten to blow sh*t up to make them agree to anything.4 points

A thread about Swalwell and all I see is a wall of simps defending the pedophile president. No criminal case against Swalwell (yet?), just accusations. But he’s out because his party doesn’t stand for such things. Meanwhile, the guy who is in the Epstein files over 1 million times is embraced by the party and running the country into the ground. Nobody that supports Trump can ever make a moral argument again. They’ve proven that credible accusations of child rape aren’t enough to turn them off from a politician (or judge: see also: Kavanaugh)4 points

Trump: 1. We can open up Hormuz at any time, not a problem. 2. NATO is going to help us open Hormuz. 3. We don’t need to open up Hormuz. 4. Hormuz is open; the oil tankers just need to show some guts and go through. 5. Iran sent me a beautiful gift by opening Hormuz. 6. If Iran doesn’t open up Hormuz I will seize Kharg Island. 7. If Iran doesn’t open up Hormuz I will destroy Iranian civilization. 8. Hormuz is meaningless to us; it’s up to other nations to open it up. 9. Iran has surrendered and agreed to open up Hormuz; the war is over and we won. 10. The USA and Iran could split the tolls for Hormuz between us 50/50. 11. We are going to blockade Hormuz. What amazes me is that some of you continue to believe this guy is competent and knows what he’s doing.4 points

In terms of not committing violent crimes? They certainly are. No matter how many times you and the rest bring up these awful anecdotes it doesn’t change the facts. You don’t punish millions of people for the terrible acts of a few. It’s immoral. It’s wrong. And a majority of Americans finally seem to understand that. After January ICE will be completely reformed. They will go after the sort of violent criminals who commit these crimes, and they will leave the rest of the undocumented community alone until Congress can figure out some sort of amnesty for them. And they will.4 points
