Timmy’s thread for general discussion
Voltaire replied to The Real timschochet's topic in The Geek Club
I'd stopped reading at the point in page 46 when I was asked for an opinion, wrote that post, and then kept reading. My goodness, I am so sorry to see this happen to you, Tim. -

Politics aside, what is happening to you is bullsh*t, and my respect for your personal integrity has just maxxed out. -

Tim, you may not be aware, but there's been months-long speculation in some right-wing circles that the Democratic Party elders would dump Biden or convince him to drop out. We could hardly believe our good fortune that he would win the nomination again. Surely the Democrat power brokers would find some way to get this incompetent, uninspiring, doddering old fool out of the picture. That's why all these people bet you. Well, the best opportunity for these Democratics to step in and dump him has come and gone. Biden has rolled up the delegates and the chatter that he'll be replaced died down greatly when Biden didn't face-plant during the State of the Union. As his campaign keeps going full speed ahead, even if he personally only maxes out at 20% speed ahead, this is looking more and more inevitable and unethical guys like George are looking to manufacture a loophole to get off the hook of the bet. I don't know that superdelegates can do anything to stop him at this point. There still remains a chance that if his poll numbers are in the toilet or if his health declines to a point where even he is convinced he cannot win, that he would willingly withdraw. One thing we've all noticed by now though is that Joe Biden consistently remained bull-headed stubborn on matters of his age, competence, and desire to run again. I think George should honor his bet and that if the Democratic Convention comes and goes with Biden as the nominee, that's the point the bet should be paid. -
Gutterboy descended into the NAMBLA dungeon in his school bus driver uniform and Satan spoke to him. -"Gutterboy! This is Satan, thy god, commanding you to obey my law. Do you hear me?" "Yes, I hear you. I hear you. A deaf man could hear you." - "What?" "Nothing. Horsesh*t. Forget it. O Satan, why have you chosen me? What would you have me do for you?" -"'I shall give you my laws, and you shall post them on the Geek Club." "Yes, Satan!" (Lightning strikes nearby) "Wow!" "Satan, I shall post these laws unto thy Geek Club." "Hear me, O hear me! All pay heed. The Lord, the Lord Jehovah, has given unto you these fifteen... Ten! Ten commandments, for all to obey." (Go!)

The Muslims hate him too, he's pulled off all three. He has cornered the market on the new and improved religion of Woke though. -
One of the biggest reasons for bad relations between the Chinese and Japanese and not just the governments. My greatuncle I mention sometimes, the one with the DiMaggio family stories who'd died a day or two before 9/11, had been in the Navy in WWII and felt like wiffleball's dad about the Japanese all his life.

Joel Youngblood On August 4, 1982, Youngblood was playing for the Mets in Chicago and got a hit off Fergie Jenkins. Hie got pulled because he'd been traded to the Expos in the bottom of the third inning. The Expos wanted him immediately so he flew to Philadelphia, and arrived in the 7th inning. He was inserted as a pinch hitter and got a base hit off of Steve Carlton. Two hits for two different teams in two different cities in one day... only player ever to do so before or since. -
Key Bridge in Baltimore struck by ship-collapses
Voltaire replied to Fireballer's topic in The Geek Club
Biden has offered to pay the entire cost of repairing the bridge. Seems to me the ship's owner and insurance company and reinsurers should pay but that will take a while to figure out who owes what and that site needs cleanup and rebuilding ASAP to minimize economic losses. -

I feel bad when I go 3x5, this goes 4x5. Looks like a surefire strategy for kids. My starting word changes all the time but it usually consists of 2 vowels and adds up to 5 or 6 on Scrabble. The second word the same but with all new letters and I have to pause and think a bit to come up with the second word because the first changes all the time. The third is when I start guessing now unless I've cr@pped the bed. I try to keep my ratio of 3s to 5s and 2s to 6s as high as possible, so it pisses me off to eat a 5 or 6.

His health seems to be an increasingly serious problem. He skipped delivering his homily on Palm Sunday and didn't participate in Good Friday events either. In between, he was able to participate in a ritual foot washing at a local prison. His spokesperson says he still intends to deliver Easter Mass and is saving up his strength to do so. Also, he's 87. Pope Francis skips Good Friday procession ‘to preserve his health,' Vatican says (msn.com)

It would be wise for the Trump Campaign team to distribute literature outside churches regularly each Sunday through November, reminding the congregations that Joe Biden declared Easter 2024 to be Transgender Day of Visibility. -
