Eric Adams spends coldest winter night in shelter after migrants refused to leave hotel
Voltaire replied to craftsman's topic in The Geek Club
It's not what you want but it is the easily predicted consequence of what you advocate for. When you were championing open borders, where did you think these people would go? There's not a bottomless pit of money, housing, health care and other resources out there and what there is is being used more and more by foreigners rather than Americans. -
The NFL is more concerned with money than diehard fans. Teams too. They would rather fill the stadiums with deep pocketed corporate accounts than diehard fans that can't cough up the same amounts of money.

I've been rooting for that team since Bo roamed the sidelines and know and like plenty of people that went there, even though I know it's a den of woke BS. As for Sparty, it was a lost season but it looks like they are going to successfully hose Mel Tucker and re-coup his salary over bullsh*t. Hopefully the Oregon State guy they hired to replace him can turn the program around because of this fiasco, they risk becoming a perennial also-ran like Purdue or Illinois. Seems to me they were fotunate to get him as the collapse of the Pac10 freed him up. -

If I did, I could have set aside a fifteen hour block or whatever to do so. Once upon a time I was really good at that game and regularly got deep into the top speed level. -
What's up with the illegal Jewish tunnels under NYC?
Voltaire replied to Cdub100's topic in The Geek Club
These tunnels remind me of an odd article I remember from years back, about how Orthodox Jews hang invisible wires in their communities. I forgot every other detail about it, so I went to look it up again just now. They're called eruv and aparently they need to be hung up so that people inside them can attend synagogue. https://www.amusingplanet.com/2016/03/the-nearly-invisible-wires-that-enclose.html I wonder if the tunnels are related to that. Or perhaps they, like their Palestinian neighbors, from somewhere deep in their psyche, harbor an innate compulsion to build tunnels everywhere. -

CDub is a great, outstanding human being who has a more jaded and negative opinion of racial and religious minorities than I do. Yes, I do disagree with him on this, but we like and respect each other, and so don't hold your breathe on seeing me call him out. There's more. CDub happens to be the Geek that lives closest to my family in the Detroit area and is one of only two Geeks (the other being nobody) that I've ever met in person. When I was in China and now that I am in Florida, for anything local going on, he's the first source of information I turn to. Also, during the early days of COVID, when people were dropping dead in Hunan and before the disease spread to the US, CDub went to some lengths to help me procure masks, although the effort failed as they were hard to come by, but not for lack of effort. (It was Fireballer who did, in fact, get my family masks). -

Until now, it had never occurred to me that ZZ Top might be a Jewish band. -
I know. I watched them all year. Baltimore exposed them. They're arguably the second best team in the NFC but the secondary is too leaky (although CJGJ returning should help) and pass rush is mediocre unless James Houston returns. Scrambling QBs befuddle them. They're not close to San Francisco IMO. Their record is based in part on going 8-0 vs the weak teams of the NFC South and AFC West divisions. Then they also got in a funk during the easiest stretch of their schedule when they played tight/poor games and escaped with a 3-2 record vs the Bears (2), Chargers, Packers, and Saints.
-
Not really. The favorites should cruse because the stratification is more pronounced and higher than usual this year. Its not just the the favorites are playing at home, but that other than KC/Miami and head-up-their-tush-push-Philly and TBB, the favorites are also significantly better.
-
Yup. I don't see it. SF and Baltimore are worlds better than anyone else in their conferences. If either get tripped up it'd be Baltimore by Cleveland since division rivals know each other better than anyone and Cleveland has already shown that they can beat them in Baltimore this year. In the NFC, barring injury, SF is pretty much a lock. NFC Wildcards aren't very good, well Philly can be plenty good if they can wake up. To help them out they have the easiest first round opponent of all, but their team is collapsing and they have lost to teams worse than Tampa Bay recently. Pitt and GB are one-and-done. LARams do have a shot at Detroit, a better shot that Houston has at the Browns. I'd much rather have seen the Lions get the Packers. But the Rams are still too top heavy and Detroit D plays better vs pocket QBs. Houston feels like surprise crashing dinner guests. It's different with Tampa Bay since we knew all along the NFC South would get to submit an entry and even there, their least bad team isn't in. Personally, I do think Miami is better than Kansas City but I remember how they lost to the Chiefs (KC was also the better team that day which sometimes doesn't match up with who gets the 'w') on a neutral field and now they play in Arrowhead, so I can't go there. Detroit looked better than Dallas when they recently played. It's easier for Dan Campbell to fire up Lions who know they're better and got cheated while the Cowboys go in knowing they are inferior and stole the game.

SF is way better than the NFC. Baltimore has bigger landmines to navigate by way of Buffalo or Cleveland or the Chiefs but should still win. And if Baltimore does win the NFC team, SF or another, will not beat them. -

Its only from one game mind you, but when Michigan beat CJ Stroud last year, I still got the sense Stroud looked like a legit NFL quarterback. There was a sense of call it what ... respect? fear? that went with that focker. That guy was good. I didn't get anywhere close to that watching Penix play vs Michigan.

Wordle 934 5/6 🟨🟨 🟨 🟨🟨🟨🟨 🟨🟨🟩🟩 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 It's been a long time since I got a five, but I just wasn't finding any help. This also may have gone six. Switching away from 3x5 to trying to rolling the dice on a three or at least finding green with the third guess has been beneficial overall as I've landed threes I never would have gotten but it bit me in the butt here.

Michigan got off to a great start and it looked like a blowout but Washington found their D and clawed their way back in, and stuck around at 7 points down seemingly forever. ln the middle of the 4th quarter Michigan's O finally woke up again to expand it to 14 and with Washington pressing they commited a near Pick-6 that netted another TD to make it 21. Most of the game was tense and closer than the final score would indicate. -
