  1. Let the beatdown commence.
  2. Campbell is crazy on 4th down. He clearly trusts his OLine and doesn't respect Chiefs run defense.
  3. I would never feel this or think to type it. Not about Steve Yzerman, Barry Sanders, Justin Verlander, Isiah Thomas or anyone else.
  4. Lions rookies did well in the offseason. No obvious busts. Those taken in the first two rounds: Gibbs, Branch, LaPorta, and Campbell should all see plenty of playing time, the other four all made the roster and add depth. Also a ninth, an undrafted rookie Holmes found, got plucked off waivers onto Arizona's 53 man roster. So, the early impression around here is that Brad Holmes did it again for a third straight year but we'll see how it goes when the action turns live.
  5. Rodgers with a D. I fail to believe that Aaron Rodgers 1.01 is any better than Aaron Rodgers 1.0 when the Kelse upgrade gets uninstalled. There's two silent D's in there, mirroring the Kansas City efensive line.
  6. Because you're wrong. We aren't going against the defending Super Bowl champs. The Chiefs are missing two lynchpin players and simply aren't a championship caliber team this week. I fail to believe that Mahomes minus Kelse, and with only two days prep, is any better than Aaron Rogers and we already know how that goes. This week's Chiefs are the Green Bay Packers in red uniforms and they're about to experience what Green Bay did twice last year going up against Detroit. Meanwhile, the Chiefs D-Line is going to get overwhelmed with two starters missing. Detroit's Pro Bowl laden O-Line may well be the best in the league and all KC has to offer are backups and wishful thinking. If they were the Super Bowl champs it'd be a different story. They're not and it won't be. What to expect is Detroit vs Green Bay Part Three. Further, this Lions team is significantly better than that Lions team.
  7. The roster has been totally overhauled such that most, if not all, of the kneeler scum from 2020 are gone when the only thing we were competing for was to be the most woke franchise in the country. And your wrong, this is the first year season tickets have sold out in the Ford Field era. There hasn't been this much hype for the Lions since the years Scott Mitchell was stealing defeat from the jaws of victory as he squandered away Barry Sanders, Herman Moore, Lomas Brown and Chris Speilman's prime. Also, the one player ... Marvin Jones?

Wordle 810 5/6 🟨 🟨 🟨 🟩🟩🟨 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 Another good wordle word. I couldn't think of anything to plug in at four and the answer was not even considered. After that though, I had the first three letters because 2 and 3 were green and the first letter wasn't in spot 5 or 4, so I had a handle on it.
  9. I was devastated when the Lions passed on Jalen Carter at five. They'd traded back to draft Gibbs at whatever 12, which had me fuming. Soon after, they took Campbell at 18. At that point, I rage-quit watching the draft. I couldn't take it anymore. There's easy to find evidence in this forum to that effect. For the record, I've warmed to these picks considerably since then. But at the time though, for weeks in the local Detroit media market on sports talk radio, the press, and the local fans with podcasts, there was much speculation on who should we take in this situation or that one.... and then when the first round finally came ... we got none of them. Nobody that had registered a blip on our radar. Instead we took fockers I'd never heard of, who'd generated no buzz, and that no one had been talking about. Well actually Branch had been a target, but I was too busy howling at the moon or something and had stopped paying attention long before he was selected. Well, time went on. When you watch these guys as the offseason unfolds and see their interviews, things change. "Oh, so we didn't get bags of hair after all, they're actually quite talented players." So there's optimism that Brad Holmes has struck gold for the third draft in a row, something that didn't exist on the day of the draft. By way of contrast, it's Jaemo (Jameson Williams) who's looking like a massive bust and I had been perfectly fine with drafting him last year. So, for whatever that's worth...
  10. Michigan quarterbacks like Brady and Henne are always great. Unfortunately for Henne, it took fifteen years or so bouncing around as a backup to prove his greatness because Miami gave up on him too soon before he got his chance to reemerge in KC. Or something like that... maybe...
  11. They have to prove it on defense. The secondary was totally overhauled in free agency. Gardner Johnson was the big signing but also Cam Sutton and Emmanuel Mosely (who is still rehabbing and will not play week one.) Kirby was good last year and worth keeping and Branch has been a rookie sensation all camp. This group has not played together at all, only practice, and a top shelf QB like Mahomes should be expected to exploit that in week one as it takes time to gel. But then too Mahomes has his own issues to deal with missing Kelce.
  12. I'm not going to pump out my chest if the Lions win because this isn't the Chiefs, it's a hollow fascimile of them. I see the Lions as 11-6 or 12-5 and one of those Ls was expected to come at Arrowhead. Just looking presentable on national TV and keeping the game close would have been good enough for me. That's was what I expected when I saw the schedule come out. Then God interfered. Now it's a just a really good team going against an average one and you expect the really good team to win those. The Chiefs we all know and fear will likely arrive week two . Or at least Kelce will be back; Jones is a selfish me-first pr*ck so who knows about him. Giving him what he wants will put them fully back in the drivers seat this season but also bite them in the ass and screw the team over long term ... which may be prove to be worth doing anyway. (I'd like to see them tell him to "get focked and see him in eight week", even though that means missing the Bears and Vikings games too, just on principle). The Niners caved on Bosa just yesterday and watching the Lions' manhandling of their D-Line will have the Chiefs' brass sh*tting their pants during/after week one. Beating them at full strength would have been glorious and quite the upset. Now that both their offense and defense are downgraded, they're temporarily the Packers not the Chiefs. Beating them in week one is expected, it's just taking care of business. Assuming the Lions win, this will not be a statement win. Even if we stomp them like I think we will, we'll still have stolen the win. There's nothing to read about the 2023 Chiefs or Lions going forward unless the Lions lose. Then the Chiefs are truly scary again and the Lions simply overhyped. A team that can't beat the Chiefs minus Jones and Kelce is not worthy of being in the discussion.
  13. I think the floor for the Lions is a playoff birth but that would be disappointing. Par for 2023 is to win both the North and a home playoff game because this is a top four NFC team. The Eagles are still the best team in the conference until further notice. Kansas City is getting screwed by greedy-ass money grubbing Jones and then unlucky with Kelce. That's their burden to bear, the Lions got lucky to be the recipient of good fortune. Both these problems should be solved by week two, but they have a game today and the Lions are going to bring the pain. This week one team isn't 17-3 Super Bowl champion Kansas City 2022, they're wearing same red and white uniforms but they actually more closely resemble the 8-9 2022 Green Bay Packers and they're about to endure a beatdown worse than 2022 Green Bay suffered because the 2023 Lions are much improved on the 2022 version. Week one will be a KC aberration. Fate focked them. They'll be able to get their team together, start digging out of their 0-1 start, and go about spending the rest of the year being somebody else's problem again soon enough. Meanwhile, the Lions will take this gift-wrapped win and move on to 12-5 or 11-6 or something.

    Step down Joe

They have Transportation mastermind, Pete Buttguy. Amy Klobuchar is only obnoxious to her staff, not the greater public. In Michigan we have half-wit whose message resonates with leftoids.
  15. Lions 38 Chiefs 20 Detroit runs down KC's throat at will while Goff has all day in the pocket when they pass. They set the tempo and win time of possession 35 to 25. They'll make three 4th down conversions along the way because the Detroit O-Line is dominant while KC D-Line is full of second stringers. KC's defense will not be able to get Detroit's offense off the field. Without Kelce their offense plans are scrambled but KC will still be able to figure out something on the fly and are able to make some things work because Mahomes is great and because Detroit's newly improved / reconstructed secondary still hasn't got game experience working together as a unit. On Friday, Brett Veach backs an armored car into Chris Jones' driveway and both Jones and Kelce are good to go for Jacksonville in week two.

    Any good ff team names?

    San Francisco Poopers

    Travis Kelce boo boo.

There's also a major skill gap between Detroit's offensive liine and KC's defensive line. Dan Campbell loves to go for it on 4th down because his O-Line usually wins the trench battles against other teams' D-Line and KC will have to figure this out while missing two starters, including their best defensive player.

    Step down Joe

He's already said a few bajillion times that he's running again and I hope he does because he's likely to lose to Trump. If he doesn't run, I'm worried the Dems may turn to somebody with better odds.
