My wife still does not have a green card, no. She does have 'legal immigrant' paperwork which is NOT the same thing and so still cannot work. It's aggravating. Had she snuck across the border rather than in-process legally, she'd have had a job a year ago. We're still renting until we get a second income. I'd picked Pensacola because it's got a lower cost of living than the rest of Florida and because it's a solid red area. The beach is too cold for three months or so that may be why. We're very happy here, although with my job not so as I mentioned in the other thread. The kids are all three getting straight A's, to include my son who had not adapted well to Chinese schools. My eldest daughter got a college recruiting packet inviting her to apply to the University of Chicago, which may be the #1 most respected non-leftoid polluted college on the planet. She'll join the Florida National Guard in a couple of months. The two elder ones are happy with their public high school. The youngest one will be entering grade six and will definitely NOT attend the school I teach at. We're working on options.

After exerting all this effort to get Joe to step aside, can you do that all over again a second time on Kamala and also get her to shut up and not throw a fit? You're the party of DEI (among 1000 other bad ideas). You have to put Kamala up. You need a talented talker like Clinton or Obama but you're not going to identify that person on such short notice and promote him/her/ze/it. if you do, your Kamala faction will shriek like banshees and split the party when she gets skipped over. Maybe she has it in her to not fock this up, probably not, but then you also have her out of the way for 2028 as well and can get a fresh start. My ideal, since I loathe everything the 2024 Democrats stand for, is to run Joe and lose. Then in 2028, watching the Dems twist themselves into a pretzel trying to either avoid their DEI border czar Kamala and fail, or succeed and suffer the fury of their intersectional adulteress scorned. I want to save hearing /singing the sweet music of "the only reason to not support Kamala is racism and sexism" for the Dem primaries in 2028. In addition to being 100 times more competent and intelligent, JD Vance speaks the language of forgotten voters of the Rust Belt in out native tongue and more eloquently than the rest of us, meanwhile repulsive DEI VP Kamala was hatched in San Francfreako from an egg that originated on Mars and has zero appeal to Blue Wall voters. That's a wonderful matchup for 2028, especially if he spends 2024 in all these swing voting states as a warm up introducing himself.

Yeah, I teach 8th grade math to 14 year olds who never learned 4th grade math. When I fail them, the assistant principal comes along behind me, raises all my 0s, 15s, and 24s to 'D' and then sends them off to be the high school's problem. In this way, we participate in doing to the high school math teachers what the 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th grade teachers did to me. I came in as an emergency hire in January after my predecessor quit in October and it didn't take me long to realize why the focker bailed on my kids and threw them to the wind. That batch of cookies was burnt with the end of the school year and are now somebody else's problem. There were lessons to be mined from the catastrophe. With experience under my belt now, hopefully I have more luck next year to mitigate the catastrophe into only being a disaster. Fock. I'm use to teaching English to top performing Chinese students, not 8th grade math to remedial level American ones. And I'd be delighted to teach remedial level if they let me do it right considering how I have first hand experience in what happens when its done wrong. When the elementary schools dump kids on us that aren't ready for grade six, give them a time-out year. I'm happy to teach them basic math literacy, Miss E. can teach them to read and write. If they need four or even five years to complete Middle School, keep them for four or five years. But this social promotion isn't doing them any favors. It teaches them they don't need to do jack squat and they can continue on anyway.

I;m very excited by the JD Vance pick. I'd read his book years ago and it resonates. I myself wasn't sold on Trump until midway through his second year. At first, before he came into his own, he seemed to be led by Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell and we were getting a dumber Jeb!. But Vance is strong across the board and will move the party more into an appeal across racial lines and away from the Bushtarded Romney focksticks I never even considered voting for, going Democrat in those elections (an era before the Dems went off the rails).
