Which means people just trying to do an end around and show off DEI theater. It’s passive resistance.

Came for all the mediocre white tears. Wasn’t disappointed. Some of y’all need a diaper and a tissue.

Restaurant chain shuts down nearly 50 locations in California following minimum wage hike

Well of course not, esp in Cali it’s closer to $25 or more. What is a “starter” job and why are they beneath your dignity? -

Well yeah, if you don’t want to pay a fair wage, don’t own a business. Has nothing to do with incentivization; you don’t have a choice. -
The white supremacist reactionary pushback of the last few years has been very sorrowing, yeah. But politically speaking I’ve been disillusioned with American politics since the first Obama admin. Neoliberal war criminal. Voted for him in 2008, that was my last Dem for POTUS. (GOP not even an option).

First one 19 ended by death (not mine), second one is 5 this coming 15th. Gonna blow it out at Seattle Four Seasons. Was there earlier this year and it’s SO choice.

I can’t recall that particular episode—and I’ve kinda stopped truly with telemarketers since I found out they legit can get hurt if they can’t make their numbers and I don’t need to make their lives any worse—but that line is from Fargo, the Asian guy who meets Frances McDormand at the Radisson…”It’s a nice place, well you know if it’s a Radisson it’s gonna be good”: “IM JUST SO LOOOONELY. SO VERY VERY LOOOONELY.” LOL.

Oh! Another interesting note: we got married in June 2019…in Cincinnati, at the zoo, in front of Fiona the hippo. Our reception had a big ice sculpture of her.

I did! Go to the “Torrid is not Torrid” thread and I just told the meet cute. (It’s better than most I promise)

Was definitely sad. Who wouldn’t be? But I got amazingly lucky. Heck, I’ll tell the story: She died April 2013. By summer 2014 I was feeling ready to try to begin living life and having love again, but my kids understandably were still pretty wrecked. I tried to do something to revive my 16 yo son’s interest in being alive and growing up. I’m a big Neil Young fan, and he had become one as well. During this time, Neil was developing a high end music player called Pono. (It turned out to be a failure for a couple reasons but it was a good concept). He was having a couple of launch parties and was inviting folks (for a fee) to meet and have dinner with him, get a PONO player, and see a presentation about it. One was in Chicago, where my family are from. I decided this would be a good way to cheer him up. I can’t remember what my ask was, except that it was pretty expensive and I think I asked if they’d sponsor Max to come? Couple days later I get a VM from Eliot Roberts (which I still have on my phone), saying Neil would like to invite him to a private meeting and give him a signed guitar before the dinner. I can’t remember if they paid for me and Max and I paid for my 13yo, or it was just Max and I paid the other two, but whatever we were all going to Chicago! It was Nov 1, 2014. On Halloween night I was bored and like I said I was starting to come back alive some so for giggles I checked out Chicago Tinder. My profile pic was a robot smoking a cigarette and my son thought I was an idiot: “No woman is gonna swipe a robot, dad.” I said “the right one would.” I got two right swipes (or whichever direction is Yes). One was a bot, the other I’ve been with pretty much since that night. We didn’t meet until 2 months later but we got married in 2019 and I had no idea marriage could be this easy. Not necessarily all the you go through when married, but the relationship itself is one of a kind. No dis to my wonderful first wife but we had nowhere near the connection I do now. (The next day we went to Neil’s hotel room at the Waldorf on Michigan Ave, talked for about 10 minutes, Max got a half size signed Martin acoustic, and then the five of us—me and the kids, Neil and Eliot—went to the elevator and down to dinner together. That may have actually been the coolest, just strolling through the Waldorf with Neil Young to dinner. He was so nice, came to every table and talked to every person, hugged my daughter and whispered in her ear “take care of your Dad.”)

Is it against your religion to name the cities or something?

Except I live here and was down there, and you weren’t and aren’t able to process information like an adult.

Biden to announce drastic border action on Tuesday

The whole concept of “sanctuary cities” is weird, given that the entire country is literally a sanctuary according to the constitution. It’s a federal matter and nonfederal LEO have no role. -
So which city did YouTube tell you burned down?
-
Online lol. YouTube news, there’s your problem. Cri.

The white supremacists on my block are upset
torridjoe replied to IGotWorms's topic in The Geek Club
Maybe because the charges were nonsense and a waste of money to process. The cops were out of control and in virtually all cases here were declaring riots when none were occurring. A repeated situation was an illegally placed fence in front of a courthouse, which was temporary and every time the crowd began to push it over they declared a riot. That’s it. Another time a cop assaulted a protestor holding a phone, knocking the phone out of his hand and it fell against the wall of the building. Riot declared. Then of course there were the illegal federal kidnappings of people from the street. You were lied to, and weren’t smart enough to evaluate what you were told. -

I hadn’t until July 20, 1999. I only know this because on the 18th I was in the stands while David Cone was completing a perfect game, and I had a flight to conference in San Diego I was about to miss. Even a rain delay! Luckily I just made it. They are amazing. I prefer them in flour rather than corn, which is super gringo and embarrassing to my Latino side, but whaddyagonnado. -
How do I forget something that didn’t happen? What city was burned down? Where? I mean when it comes to illegal assault no one touched the cops that summer. Portland cops alone committed well over 2,000 crimes, most intentionally. And when one single cop got indicted for one single crime, a whole unit quit in cowardice.

So they closed them to avoid paying a fair wage? that. -

Nobody who is THAT worried about their sexuality is very smart. I don’t even want to see your worst day because these last two or three have been eye opening on where the floor for despicability really is. -
Your desire to watch is creepy.
-
I think to be fair you’ve come a lot closer to me, than the reverse, in the interim. But yeah seeing you become a full fledged Cat Husband has been amusing/softening lol.

Stop calling me a liberal.

This is fabricated or at minimum deeply inaccurate. What left wing violence in 2020? Since when are cops left wing? Hillary was worse than Trump. Neither are worth putting out if they’re on fire but open hate is always preferable to smiling faces.
