LIBERATION DAY: USA and China agree to a 90 day pause on most new tariffs
Mike Honcho replied to The Real timschochet's topic in The Geek Club
Trump says he’ll eliminate income taxes. There’s a problem with that President Donald Trump on Sunday night reiterated an extraordinary ambition he and members of his administration have voiced from time to time throughout his young second term: One day, Americans won’t pay any more income tax, and you’ll have Trump’s tariffs to thank for it. “We’re going to make a lot of money, and we’re going to cut taxes for the people of this country,” Trump said before boarding Air Force One for his return from Pope Francis’ funeral in Rome. “It’ll take a little while before we do that, but we’re going to be cutting taxes, and it’s possible we’ll do a complete tax cut, because I think the tariffs will be enough to cut all of the income tax.” No one likes paying income taxes. But any plan to replace them with tariffs as a source of government revenue would be riddled with problems. To start, tariffs would need to be exceedingly high — significantly higher than the already historic levels at which the Trump administration has set them today. The federal government raises about $3 trillion a year from income taxes. The United States also happens to import around $3 trillion worth of goods annually. So that means tariffs would have to be at least 100% on all imported goods for the levies to replace income taxes, said Torsten Slok, chief economist at Apollo Global Management, in a note to investors. But replacing all that tax revenue is not even as simple as doubling the price of everything that comes into America, Slok notes: As prices rise, demand trails off. That’s why America’s largest companies this earnings season have said that Trump’s trade policies are raising costs and leading consumers to spend less on practically everything — from airline tickets to burritos. “The math just doesn’t add up,” said Erica York, vice president of federal tax policy at the Tax Foundation. “Not even close.” The tariffs already imposed and scheduled to take effect will bring in just $170 billion in annual revenue, the Tax Foundation estimates — taking into account reduced demand for goods that higher prices would create. That’s well short of the amount of federal income taxes America brings in each year. The challenge is that it is unclear what will happen to sales if all imported products double in price,” Slok said. “Given higher prices result in lower sales, it may require as much as 200% tariffs on all imported goods for the total tariff revenue to replace income taxes.” -
LIBERATION DAY: USA and China agree to a 90 day pause on most new tariffs

Recently he said that Tariffs could replace all income tax. That would be the biggest tax break ever for the rich and a huge regressive tax for the rest of us. It's not a surprise he's such a fan of the Gilded Age. -

Best Prize You Got From A Box Of Cereal Growing Up
Mike Honcho replied to BunnysBastatrds's topic in The Geek Club
Nothing. We were told that we could get the prize when we finished all our cereal. I would do just that, eat the cereal and hope that when I pour it into the bowl I would get a prize. My brother through would sneak into the kitchen and dig through every box and get every prize. -

Thirty Five Billion Bottles Of Beer On The Shelf…
Mike Honcho replied to BunnysBastatrds's topic in The Geek Club
35 Billion, you are such a fool Bunny, it's nowhere near that number. Americans consume about 6.3 billion gallons of beer per year. Since: 1 gallon = 128 ounces, standard beer bottle = 12 ounces 1 gallon ≈ 10.67 bottles (128 ÷ 12 ≈ 10.67), So: 6.3 billion gallons × 10.67 bottles = about 67 billion bottles of beer per year. -

It's the part about checks and balances. And those circuit courts are enforcing the laws provided by the Constitution and those passed by the legislative branches. And while you state that the Dem plan is for immigrants to stay in this country for 10 years. Again refer to the border protection bill that Trump urged the GOP Congress to reject(you said it it only took EO to accomplish a few days ago) would have provided millions to hire immigration judges to speed up the court process.
