Trumpβs tariff threats are working: Audi ponders a U.S. manufacturing siteβand Porsche might join
Mike Honcho replied to League Champion's topic in The Geek Club
That link shows the majority of violent crimes in this country are committed by white people. Nothing to figure out really, the totals are on the 9th line. From the link. Violent crimes are offenses of murder and nonnegligent manslaughter, rape, robbery, and aggravated assault. White - 59.1 % Black or African American - 36.4% It seems a lot of people owe @squistionan apology. -

Chuck Schumer Under DOJ Investigation π
Mike Honcho replied to HellToupee's topic in The Geek Club
You know, I can't think of another prominent politician who has ever used his words as irresponsible as that. If someone did, I bet you guys would all be calling for him to be investigated and accountable for what he said. -
Plane crashes into Potomac near Reagan airport
Mike Honcho replied to Fireballer's topic in The Geek Club
If I fed the topic of plane crashes into the Potomac into an AI engine and asked it to predict the most outlandish responses to that topic, over a million replies, it would never come up with a discussion on Bobby Knight and rape. That's why you got to love the GC - it will never fail to surprise you. -
BREAKING: π¨ A plane has crashed in Northeast Philadelphia.
Mike Honcho replied to Maximum Overkill's topic in The Geek Club
That's tragic, Mom, daughter, doctor and paramedic along with the pilot and co-pilot, all them who died trying to help the daughter live a better life. The world needs more people like them, not less. RIP I rarely lower myself to reply to garbage posts, but you are a vile disgusting person. -

βDEI cost me a job in aviation β a crash was inevitableβ
Mike Honcho replied to edjr's topic in The Geek Club
I find that a little hard to believe when all I read is that the FAA can't get enough people for the job. Not just Reagan: Airports across the US have struggled with air traffic control staffing in recent years, data shows When an American Airlines flight fatally collided with a military helicopter near Reagan National Airport Wednesday night, the airportβs tower wasnβt fully staffed, with one traffic controller handling the jobs of two people. But the situation was hardly an anomaly. Airports around the country have struggled with controller staffing levels for years, according to a CNN review of government data and interviews with aviation experts. The most recent data from the Federal Aviation Administration shows that across all airport towers and terminal approach facilities nationwide, only about 70% of staffing targets were filled by fully certified controllers as of September 2023. When controllers in training are included, that rose to about 79%. Some traffic control towers at major airports around the country β including Philadelphia, Orlando, Austin, Albuquerque and Milwaukee β had less than 60% of their staffing targets filled with certified controllers. Reagan Airport had about 63%. Aviation experts say itβs too early to tell whether a lack of sufficient staffing could have played a role in the disaster over the Potomac River that took 67 lives this week. But the tragedy could raise awareness of the staffing issues that go beyond a single airport. -

ICE raid reported at Philly car wash
Mike Honcho replied to Maximum Overkill's topic in The Geek Club
Based on quick Google search about people being prosecuted for it, it's doubtful either party would want to do that. Aside from the financial benefits Tim has outlined(agree or not), and my earlier statement about businesses, politicians and cash; what political party want to be seen going after business owners/leaders who presumably provide a lot of legal jobs in the community? "Hi, I'm John Doe from District 4, remember when I closed those two plants that were essential to the community for hiring illegals, well I would like your vote and if you can, a cash donation to support my next election". And that's the problem, as a country we don't want to address the root cause - people will hire migrants because they can make more money off of their work and it provides cheaper goods for us.. And for the migrants, they can make more money here safely than they can in their home countries. From a social-science point of view, I'm very curious to see if actual large scale deportations were to take place what will be the results, will prices rise, will companies have to close doors/relocate because they can't get labor... -

I'm just taking a guess - but I'd guess it has to do with relationship between these business owners and the politicians is the reason it's not enforced. If companies started getting fined for 3 per worker + plus the possibility of jail time, it would stop. Now, what that will do to the economy, cost of goods, etc., well, that's a completely different can of worms, that could be debated until we were all blue in the face. -

If this part of the law was ever enforced: What Are the Civil Fines and Criminal Prosecution For Employing Undocumented Workers? The Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 imposed civil and criminal fines for the unlawful hiring of aliens. The consequences include: A maximum penalty of six months imprisonment and a fine of $3,000 per worker may be imposed. The amount of illegals in this country would drastically reduce. -

Mike Honcho replied to Fireballer's topic in The Geek Club
None of these decisions played a part in the tragedy, but I wanted talk about disbanding the ASAC. That's an important group who contributed many safety advancements in flight since it was created in 1989. I haven't seen or heard any reason why this was done. -
That would not be a popular policy after campaigning on reducing inflation by lowering energy costs, doubt oil is included.

You all know the "hungry animal" commercials....
Mike Honcho replied to seafoam1's topic in The Geek Club
I think this is one of Seafoam1's best ideas. I'm going to shop it around to producers and suggest to them that he works as a stunt baby in the commercials for realism. -
I heard about that - is there a link, that might be amusing.

I agree 100% with all the bolded statements. The fact that they own the government isn't unique to pharmaceutical though, any corporation with enough money. It just happens that big pharma has makes more money than most countries(no lie). We have given corporations way too many rights. The "Free Speech" rights we give to corporations(decided by SCOTUS) are absurd. I find any "rights" that allow corporations to opt out of law absurd(religious grounds, Hobby Lobby), corporations are artificial entities that hundreds of years ago were given the ability to create contracts, go to court---but they are still artificial and shouldn't have the inalienable rights you and I have. Soapbox rant over.

You people are nuts, that movie was great. The last time I laughed that hard was when I first saw Ghostbusters. The ships driving straight into the walls and not breaking apart. The Lucious character needing to get revenge on the Pedro for his wife dying...the wife that as general he put on the wall where she got shot. The CGI monkeys, and then you get the sharks in the colosseum. Sharks that can instantly attack anytime someone falls into the water. When the senators are reading newspapers 1400 years before the printing press was invented, that's just off the top of my head, seriously, this movie was the funniest thing I've seen in ages.
