It was proven he bet on his team, it was not PROVEN he didn't bet against the Reds, and Dowd himself thought Pete did. DOWD HAD EVIDENCE PETE BET AGAINST REDS IMO, baseball wants everyone to believe that Pete didn't bet against the Reds and may have thrown games(leaving a pitcher in too long, not playing best lineups).

As a Brewer fan, I want them to lose and come to Milwaukee. Brewers went 5-1 against them this year and have won something like 20 out of last 24 games against NYM at home. Of course, now that I've said that outloud, it will probably happen and the Crew will be eliminated in two.

I'm getting the exact opposite take-away than you are, he's not saying there are plans to clamp down on speech, he's saying it's easier than ever to put out false information, and as currently read and interpreted there is nothing that can be down to stop the spreading of that fake information. Is the GOP the only dishonest party-no, but IMO they are much more dishonest, in quantity and magnitude than the Dems. There are too many examples to even bother with a list. And yes, the first amendment for good or bad(bad in this case) is a major block to stopping the spread of misinformation.
