Started a diet April 21. Weighed 306. First 'official' weigh-in Wednesday - 298. Did the Atkins diet 10 years ago and had a lot of success. Doing it again, without rereading the book. I know I'm not following it to the letter - I've eaten peanut butter already and nuts are supposed to be a no-no for 2 weeks - but feel like it's going well. Hope to get to 200.

Any ace is going to call (as long as your cards aren't face up), etc. Taking a 12K pot when it could have been 14 isn't exactly losing a ton of value.

i understand why OP did it. its the 'make him make the tough decision' mentality that is out there. it also gives you the turn and river for no more money if you get it all-in preflop. you also can't be bluffed at that point. but you're right, if he calls/folds the flop, he saves about 6800 which is not insignificant.
