San Diego Chargers and Dallas Cowboys
Corporal Punishment replied to CornKobb's topic in FFToday Board
Just to be clear: I was being ironic when I brought up Roy Williams. I consider him a huge bust for the Cowboys. I could have used one of those cute emoticons to make my tone clear, but I'm allergic to them. Sorry. -
San Diego Chargers and Dallas Cowboys
Corporal Punishment replied to CornKobb's topic in FFToday Board
They had Roy Williams. -
Just to clarify my vote: In a redraft league, hell yes. In a dynasty or keeper: maybe not.
-
In my dynasty league, many of the other owners and I openly scoffed at another owner who drafted Wilson before Matt Flynn. Who looks stupid now?
-
I am rather found of the fourth slot. Rodgers often gets picked in the first three which means I still get one of the top three RBs. If not, then I'm OK with Rodgers as my #1 pick. At the end of the first/beginning of second round you can often get Brees or Stafford as well as a second-tier RB.

I think you should include IDPs on the rosters. Would it be still possible to have Team Defense/Special Teams?

better keeper Charles or d Thomas?
Corporal Punishment replied to bfavre4ever's topic in FFToday Board
I'd stick with Charles, even though he might not have a great year. I like both Maclin and Thomas this year, but there is a great deal of depth at WR and a number of players with an equal chance to score like those two. -
Calvin Johnson on Madden 2013 Cover
Corporal Punishment replied to mobb_deep's topic in FFToday Board
Note that the only other Wide Receiver to appear on the cover of Madden was Larry Fitzgerald on Madden 10, and the curse didn't seem to affect his performance or fantasy points. Perhaps receivers are immune to the curse. Or maybe all of the curse went to Polamalu for the shared cover. -
Anyone know much about what's going on with Green Bay's running game? They didn't draft or sign anyone new, and it looks like Ryan Grant is gone, so James Starks seems the undisputed starter, as underwhelming as he was last year. I know they like Brandon Saine in passing situations, but I didn't hear much about Alex Green last year. Do they still like him? Is Saine the primary backup? Will they run a committee?

I remember this being debated in earnest a couple years ago; I think last year demonstrated pretty clearly the limitations of both. Peterson has a better attitude and more versatile ability. He's constantly working on improving and seems to give %100 on every down he plays. On the other hand, his running style seeks out contact and injuries are going to go along with that. We saw last year what can go wrong with Johnson even when his body is healthy. He doesn't seem as humble or as committed to his team as ADP. However, CJ2K will probably have a longer shelf life due to his running style. I do object to the characterization of ADP as having “no WR talent in front of him.” I really like Percy Harvin despite having Christian Ponder as a QB. Generally, I would predict ADP is likely to give you more in the games he plays, but you will get more games out of CJ2K.

Do you really think they will take Floyd over Blackmon?

***Official Seattle Seahawks Thread 2012***
Corporal Punishment replied to phillybear's topic in FFToday Board
Here's another Peter King tidbit, already partially quoted earlier in this thread: Ten things I think I think with this year's draft approaching 4. In the unlikely event Tannehill makes it out of the top 10, I believe he'll be the 11th overall pick. That spot belongs to the Chiefs. I don't see the Chiefs taking Tannehill. I see Kansas City taking the best offer for the pick, and there will certainly be offers for that pick if Tannehill slips. Still, the most likely scenarios are Tannehill to Cleveland at four or Miami at eight. But why 11? Because teams around the league know how much Seattle loves Tannehill. And you can write this down: If Tannehill were to be there at 12, Seattle would take him, even though the Seahawks just paid medium dollar for Matt Flynn in free agency. That's how much Seattle loves him. "At Tannehill's workout,'' one source told me, "[coach] Pete Carroll was giggling like a schoolgirl watching him throw. His attitude was like, 'What are we even doing here? He'll never be there for us.' '' Read more: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2012/writers/peter_king/04/16/countdown/index.html#ixzz1sMy6xPWx Awesome devious tactic if this is really only a ploy by Carroll/Schneider to force another team to pull the trigger early. -
What if Andrew Luck decided to stay in college and play his final year?
Corporal Punishment replied to edjr's topic in FFToday Board
If he had a shred of decency? Sheesh.. He will complete his BA from Stanford this year --it is his fourth year-- he just has a year of eligibility left if he wanted to stick around and play football, as he didn't play his freshman year. There was a lot of pressure on him to go into the draft last year, but he didn't, because he wanted to finish his education and not just cash in, despite the obvious risk. I'd call that having at least a shred of decency. But if he now goes back on his word, and holds out for another year--Why? for more money? A better team?-- that would indicate he has more decency? -
The former “It's a good time to be a Seahawks fan” was buried so far I thought I would start a new thread. With reference to this article: http://www.fieldgulls.com/2012/2/14/2797451/nfl-salary-cap-space-seahawks-bucs-jaguars-bengals Which action do you think the Seahawks are likely to do to fix their quarterback situation? 1. Stay with Jackson and Whitehurst for one more year (a particularly stomach-turning option in my mind). 2. Trade up in the draft for Luck or Griffin (not very likely I reckon) 3. Take a Pass rusher with the first round pick (or best player on the board), then the best qb available in round two or even round three (Tannehill probably still not there at that point in the 2nd, but Foles, Wheeden, etc). 4. Make a trade or sign a free agent to get a veteran (Matt Flynn, Payton Manning). I think number 3 would probably be the best for the Seahawks in the long run, but that probably means another year of Jackson as the starter, with a rookie who would be far from a guaranteed upgrade in the future. I'm all for what Carrol has done with the defense with offensive line, but now would be a good time to find that franchise quarterback Seattle has always desired.

Seattle Quarterback Options
Corporal Punishment replied to Corporal Punishment's topic in FFToday Board
My current prediction: the Seahawks take a Defensive Lineman and a Linebacker with the first two picks and the best quarterback on the board in round three. Regardless of whether they sign a free agent QB, which I doubt at this point. -
Seattle Quarterback Options

The last couple mock drafts I've looked at has Kirk Cousins of Michigan State going to Seattle in the second round. Evidently he had a great performance at the combine as well as the Senior Bowl, so he might be the fourth QB off the board, after Tannehill but before Weeden or Osweiler. Any impressions of this guy? -

Coples at number 12 would be a great pick-- most mock drafts I've seen have him drafted before that--and Seattle definitely could use a good pass rushing defensive lineman, but I haven't heard too much about Coples character issues and didn't know teams were wary of him. Unless a better player happens to fall to them, I say the Hawks should take someone like Coples (Melvin Ingram? Courtney Upshaw?) with the 12th and a quarterback in the 2nd or 3rd round, and possibly another defensive lineman or defensive back with the other 2nd/3rd rounder. Unless an obvious better player is available, of course. Schneider is making all the right noises about bringing back Lynch for a few more years.. or at least one more. -

Seahawks lost the coin flip to KC this morning, leaving Seattle with the 12th pick overall. -
Seattle Quarterback Options

I've seen a lot of articles like this lately: http://www.sbnation.com/2012/2/20/2811764/peyton-manning-rumors-seattle-seahawks But can't really take it seriously. Manning with the Hawks? I mean, I don't think I'd even like that. After all the work that has been put in the last two years rebuilding the team with younger players for the long haul, I'd much rather see the Seahawks draft a promising rookie who might become good in a few years. Signing Manning would be too expensive. Even if he can still throw, I can't see him being as effective as he used to be, and probably only has a year or two at best. A rumor I hate far more has the Seahawks acquiring Mark Sanchez-- USC memories, etc. That would be a disaster, but I think even more unlikely than the Payton Manning rumors. -
I've got McNabb and Sanchez as backups on my dynasty team, but I think I'll stick with Schaub. I don't think he'll do great, but he has less chance of really stinking than the other two. My guess is one score and 250 yards or so. Not great, but McNabb could really get burned (he also could really light it up like Favre did against Green Bay last year). I don't buy Sanchez as a legitimate threat at all despite his last two games. To sum up, I think Schaub is the most reliable of the three, even if he has less upside than McNabb this week. I want to play it safe as the rest of my starters seem solid. If I had Vick as an option, I'd definitely roll with him though.

I am really surprised there isn't a thread for this already (did I miss it?), but with the injuries to Lynch and Jackson, Spiller is suddenly the starting running back for Buffalo (at least for the preseason, maybe a few games into the regular season at last report). Does this make him a legitimate fantasy starter? Buffalo's offense is horribly anemic, but Spiller will get a bunch of carries. Can he handle it? Or is he more of a Reggie Bush, gimmick play kind of player? Thoughts?
-
Yes, so do I. So which is the case for Turner/Snelling this year?
-
CJ/Ringer and ADP/Gerhart have been mentioned as possibly good handcuff situations (although Gerhart has yet to impress). How about Turner/Snelling? Is this another true handcuff situation, or did Snelling's efforts last year mean he may be used as more than a backup, possibly vulturing some TDs, etc?

I'm going to add a more specific question. I'm in a ten-team dynasty league that is about to start it's second year. Through some trading, I ended up with the fourth overall pick, 7th, 19th, and 20th (four picks in the first two rounds!). There will be only rookies and a few free agents available. I'm anticipating that Matthews, Bryant, and Best will be gone when my pick comes up. I would be very happy if that were not true. Our league is adding ppr this year. I have good depth at RB, but my team is a little on the old side, so I really want a future stud. I don't care if he takes a year or two to start producing; I'm patient. I was looking at Ben Tate, and am still considering him, even though he is finished this year. Of course Hardesty seems like a reasonable option, but my friends think I am crazy for not jumping on Spiller because of his long term potential. I plan on picking a WR with my 7th pick. We draft next Tuesday, the 24th, so I have one more week to look at these guys. Is Spiller the best long term option? I've never liked Buffalo, but... Any thoughts here?

He is obviously the caucasian version of Michael Vick. I predict he'll throw 3,500+ yds, run for another 1,500 or so. Finally, a white guy who can sell sneakers.
